Experienced Maintenance Employee - Tree Maintenance

Morwell Depot | Full Time

Ongoing | Band 3 $70,286.32 per year plus applicable allowances as per the EBA

We're looking for an Experienced Maintenance Employee - Tree Maintenance to join our City Presentation team. In this role, you'll use your arboriculture expertise and specialised equipment to maintain Council's trees and vegetation assets, helping to create safe, attractive and well-maintained public spaces for our community

What You'll Be Doing

- Undertake amenity tree and vegetation maintenance in accordance with industry standards and Council requirements.
- Safely operate specialised plant and equipment including elevated work platforms, wood chippers, chainsaws, trucks and other maintenance equipment.
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard while complying with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and Council procedures.
- Assist across maintenance operations where work priorities require and participate in emergency and overtime works when required.




- Provide guidance and support to other employees to assist with skill development and safe work practices.
- Maintain plant, tools and equipment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the team.

About You

You are an experienced arboriculture professional who takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality work. You have strong practical skills, enjoy working outdoors and can work both independently and as part of a team. You understand the importance of customer service and safety and are committed to maintaining Council's tree assets to a high standard.

Key Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated experience undertaking tree and vegetation maintenance, ideally within a municipal, civil or similar environment.
- Sound knowledge of current arboriculture practices, industry standards and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Proven ability to safely operate specialised plant and equipment used in tree maintenance activities.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service, teamwork, continuous improvement and Council values.

Essential Requirements

- Current Heavy Rigid Vehicle Licence.
- Construction Induction (White Card).
- Current Traffic Control and Worksite Management Certificate, or willingness to obtain within the first three months of employment.
- Elevated Work Platform Operator Certificate of Competency.
- Certificate II in ESI Powerline Vegetation Control.
- Current qualification recognising competency to trim and cross-cut felled trees, or a higher qualification.




- Appropriate qualification and/or minimum three years' recognised experience undertaking amenity tree and vegetation maintenance in accordance with AS4373-2007.

Desirable

- Certificate III Arboriculture.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Experience working for a Municipal Council or similar authority.
