The Southern Seawater Alliance The Southern Seawater Alliance operates and maintains the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant owned by the Water Corporation.
The Southern Seawater Desalination Plant is the largest desalination plant in Western Australia and supplies almost a third of Perth’s drinking water.
We are seeking the right candidate to become part of the process team and contribute to optimising plant operations.
The Role
This is a rare chance to gain experience in the water industry and work at one of the largest desalination plants in Australia. The role involves updating functional control descriptions, process troubleshooting and assistance of laboratory analysis. The role is suitable for a motivated student seeking hands on experience in water operations.
This is a twelve-week program that commences on 17th November 2026 (some flexibility with start date).
The purpose of the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant Vacation Student Program is to:
· Provide experience for university students in a workplace setting
· Develop students to build skills in the water industry
· Provide experience to allow successful transition into the workplace upon graduation
· Add value to plant operations
Is This Role Suitable for You?
Applicants must be an undergraduate student majoring in one of the following disciplines:
· Process Engineering
· Chemical Engineering
· Environmental Engineering
· Bachelor of Science Majoring in Chemistry
Applicants must have positive communication skills, a solid work ethic, value safety and an interest in plant based operational works. Proven analytical and Microsoft skills are essential.
The applicant must source their own accommodation during the period of this 12-week placement within 1 hour of Binningup.
