About the role:
Our team is growing, and we are currently seeking motivated individuals to join us in the position of
Chef
at
Flinders Medical Centre (Bedford)
on a
Casual
basis.
Working alongside the Head Chef, the successful candidate will prepare and deliver high quality, nutritious meals for hospital patients, ensuring compliance with dietary requirements, food safety standards, and kitchen operational procedures.
The role is casual and primarily provides leave coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook bulk meals for hospital patients
Ensure meals meet dietary and nutritional requirements
Maintain food quality and presentation standards
Order food supplies and monitor stock levels
Follow food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements
Support efficient kitchen operations during leave coverage

About you:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent trade qualification)




Experience preparing and cooking bulk meals in a commercial, healthcare, aged care, education, hospitality, or institutional kitchen
Knowledge of therapeutic diets and texture-modified meals
Understanding of food safety legislation and HACCP principles
Experience ordering stock and managing inventory
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organisational and time management skills
Current or eligible Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to undergo a functional pre-employment medical
Police Clearance, or ability to obtain, is
essential
DHS Working with Children Check (WWCC), or ability to obtain, is
essential
Evidence of immunisation for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Pertussis, Diphtheria, Hep B, Polio or willingness to obtain, as per SA Health Worker policy is
essential
