Job Description
Looking for a practical job where you won't be doing the same thing every day?
SSO Handling & Storage is looking for a reliable, hands-on person to join our Queanbeyan installation team.
We work across commercial, industrial and warehouse environments throughout Canberra, NSW and regional areas.
Our projects include commercial fit-outs, furniture and FF&E; installation, warehouse storage systems, specialist equipment, custom fabrication, repairs, relocations and project work.
Pallet racking and storage systems make up a significant part of what we do, but this isnot a racking-only role.
One week might involve a warehouse installation.
The next could include commercial furniture, custom equipment, repairs, workshop preparation or a regional project.
What you'll be doing
Installing commercial and industrial equipment
Furniture and FF&E; installation
Installing pallet racking, shelving and storage systems
Measuring, marking out and setting up installation areas
Drilling concrete and installing mechanical anchors
Reading layouts, drawings and installation instructions
Loading, delivering and unloading materials
Preparing jobs and equipment in our Queanbeyan workshop
Assisting with custom fabrication and project-specific solutions
Equipment relocations, repairs and minor rectification work
Assisting with mezzanine, handrail and fit-out projects
Taking QA photos and completing basic job documentation
Working directly with customers and other contractors
Occasional regional travel and overnight work
Who we're looking for
Youdo not need previous racking experience.
We're interested in people from backgrounds such as:
Construction
Commercial fit-out
Shopfitting
Furniture or cabinet installation
Mechanical installation
Maintenance
Fabrication
Trade assistant work
Warehouse equipment installation
Racking and shelving
Your exact job title matters less than whether you are practical, reliable and comfortable using tools.
You should be:
Confident using hand and power tools
Able to measure accurately
Practical and comfortable solving problems
Physically capable of installation work
Reliable and able to work within a small team
Skilled when dealing with customers
Willing to learn different systems and types of work
Able to take responsibility for the quality of your work
Essential
Current driver's licence
Australian working rights
Construction White Card, or willingness to obtain one promptly
Reliable transport to our Queanbeyan workshop
Steel-cap safety footwear
Useful but not essential
Forklift licence
Working at Heights
EWP licence
Asbestos Awareness
Silica Awareness
MR or HR licence
Previous construction, installation, fit-out or racking experience
We can arrange relevant training for the right person.
What we offer
$35 to $42 per hour + super, depending on experience and demonstrated capability
