Job Description
The Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) is a statutory body dedicated to making the renting system work for Queensland.
At a time of growth, complexity and heightened expectations across the rental sector, they are seeking an exceptional leader to join the Executive Leadership Team as Chief Operations Officer.
This pivotal role leads adiverse andinfluentialportfoliospanning enterprise change and performance, finance, governance, risk and assurance, legal services, and regulatory compliance and enforcement.
Reporting directly to the Chief ExecutiveOfficer,youwillprovidetrustedadvice to the Board and Executive Leadership Team, bringing an enterprise-wide perspectivetoriskandfinancialmanagement,organisationalperformance, decision‐making andchange management.
You willplayan key rolein translating strategy into action, strengtheningorganisationalcapabilityandensuring the RTA continues tooperateas a contemporary, effectiveservice providerand trusted regulator.
As a key driver of organisational performance and culture,youwill lead across multiple specialist functions,



bringing people together around shared priorities and creating the conditions forhigh-performancepartnershipsandoutcomes.Success willrequirean experienced executive with strong financial and commercial acumenwhocanpromoteorganisationalresilience,buildeffectiveriskmanagementcapability,andembedgovernanceand enterprisechangepracticestosupportthebusinesstoachieveitsstrategicobjectives.Youwillhave deepexperiencedrawingontheexpertiseof specialist teamswhilemaintainingclearexecutive accountability, balancing strong governance and sound judgement with a pragmatic,values-drivenapproach to continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished leader wholeads with integrity andis comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity, leading change and building high-performing teams.
Youwill bring extensiveexperienceadvisingBoards,executivesanddiverse stakeholders on complex and sensitive matters, together with a strong record of influencing across an organisation, buildingtrustand delivering results.
Experience within government, a statutorybody, regulated environment or similarly complex organisationor sectorwill be highly regarded.
