The Salvation Army Youth Services support young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by providing crisis accommodation, case management support, and safe, nurturing environments that promote stability, independence and wellbeing.
Our services focus on creating Psychologically Informed Environments and supporting young people to build the skills they need for independence.
About the role
As anAfter‐Hours Youth Support Worker, this is your opportunity to provide consistent, professional support to young people residing in crisis accommodation.
You will help create a therapeutic, safe and welcoming environment while supporting the implementation of case management plans and assisting young people to build essential life skills.
Reporting to theAfter-Hours Client Services Coordinator, this is a casual onsiteposition, located inShepperton , Victoria.
Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with theSCHADS Award – Level 3.
How you will make an impact
Provide a safe environment by supporting residents and maintaining a nurturing, therapeutic refuge setting
Work within key practice frameworks using the Journey to Independence Model and Psychologically Informed Environment principles
Support daily living skills including meal preparation, hygiene, recreation, shared spaces and independent living tasks
Follow case management direction by assisting young people to attend health, housing, education, justice and social inclusion appointments
Maintain accurate records that meet legislative and organisational standards
Ensure protected program operations through thorough handovers, risk identification and timely escalation
Support outreach clients
What you will bring
A tertiary qualification ( minimumDiploma) inCommunity Services, Social Servicesor a related field
Experience working in asocial service environment, preferably within the youth sector
Understanding of Psychologically Informed Environments and trauma ‐ informed practice
A currentVIC Employee Working with Children Check, andDriver's Licence
Ability to work collaboratively, maintain professional boundaries, and support young people with diverse needs
