Principal & Senior Power Systems Engineer | Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne | Multi-disciplinary Energy Infrastructure Business

My client works across the full lifecycle of energy infrastructure projects, from strategy and feasibility through to construction, commissioning and operations. Their work spans utility-scale renewables, battery storage, data centres, transmission and distribution, and heavy fleet electrification, with clients including major renewable and data centre developers, Tier 1 construction firms and leading utilities.

Off the back of continued growth, they are now hiring two Power Systems Engineers, a Principal and a Senior, to join and help build out their grid modelling team from the ground up.
n
Both roles report to the Director, Development and Grid Studies.

What you will be doing
n
n
Leading grid connection activities across all project stages, from early feasibility through to registration and commissioning
n
Leading Grid Connection Enquiries and regulatory submissions
n
Preparing and coordinating Generator Performance Standards documentation
n
Guiding the development and review of power system studies and connection models
n
Conducting steady-state and dynamic power system studies,



including load flow, contingency and stability assessments, using PSSE, PSCAD and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory
n
Maintaining and validating study models, scenarios and datasets for quality, traceability and version control
n
Preparing technical reports, documentation and submissions
n

What they are looking for
n
n
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
n
Demonstrated experience in power system analysis, modelling, planning and NER access standards
n
Experience preparing R0 GPS packages for NEM access
n
Static and energetic studies experience relating to large-scale solar, BESS or data centres
n
Exposure to PSSE, PSCAD and/or PowerFactory
n
Solid understanding of transmission and distribution networks, substation arrangements, network constraints and power system dynamics
n
For the Principal role, experience leading a grid modelling or power systems engineering team is expected
n
Python or similar scripting and automation experience is a plus
n
Comfortable presenting technical information to stakeholders and working groups
