Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a full-time, ongoing Science Teacher to become an integral part of the College's Science Department, commencing 1 January ****.

Responsibilities n
The Science Teacher will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the Science Learning Area that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
n
n
Implementing effective teaching strategies to engage and challenge students of varying abilities to achieve specific learning outcomes.
n
Fostering a stimulating, encouraging and inclusive classroom environment designed to support student growth.
n
Deliver an engaging Science curriculum that develops students' scientific knowledge, critical thinking and inquiry skills, while encouraging them to apply scientific concepts to real-world contexts and make evidence-based conculsions.
n
Planning and programming for classes within the Science Learning Area to promote learning and involvement.
n
Assessing the performance of students in accordance with College procedures and where required, maintaining contact with parents regarding the performance and wellbeing of students.
n
Meeting the deadlines set by the Head of Learning Area and College Executive.
n
Selection Criteria n
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.
You Will n
n
Have the ability to teach across all year levels (Years 7-12).
Ability to teach Science ATAR is advantageous.
n
Hold a tertiary qualification in Secondary Education, preferably with a specialisation Science.
n
Be committed to creating engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experiences that cater to a range of student abilities.
n
Show strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to collaborate with colleagues.
n
Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
n
Be dedicated to ongoing qualified growth.
n
Actively support and contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.
n
Qualifications n
Qualifications Required:
n
n
Bachelor's degree in Education, preferably in Science.
n
Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) or equivalent.
n
Terms of Employment n
n
Hold a current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
n
Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC).
n
Hold, or be working towards completion of, Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School, Accreditation to Teach Religious Education or Accreditation for Leadership in Catholic Schools.
n
Annually complete Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training.
n
Highly Desirable n
n
Knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and WACE courses.
n
A strong understanding of current educational perspectives.
n
Strong time management and organisational skills.
n
Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
n
