About the Role
n
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Family Practitioner to join the Mackillop Family Services – Child and Family Services Team.
n
Guided by the Team Leader, the Family Practitioner will collaborate with the Family Support Worker to form trusted working relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Together, they will develop family support plans to inform interventions and services to enhance family functioning and capacity. The focus will be on keeping children safe and families together through a child-centred, strength-based, trauma-informed, and culturally affirming approach.

What You Need to Succeed
n
Essential
n
n
Qualifications in a related field – Child and Family, Community Services, Social Work, minimum Certificate 3 and above or working towards.
n
2 years of case management experience with families who have experienced trauma or in a similar field.
n
Proven teamwork, communication,



and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of people and service providers.
n
Demonstrated ability to use culturally sensitive ways to ensure improved client access to DDHS and/or other health services.
n
Knowledge of the social determinants of health (environment, economic and social inequalities) that have a profound impact on the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
n
An understanding of attachment, trauma theories, a child-centered approach and resilience.
n
Have experience in child protection, family services, or childhood development.
n
Well-developed knowledge of, and contemporary experience in, working with clients experiencing or at risk of experiencing FDV and relevant management strategies.
n
Demonstrated computer skills, especially in the use of client information systems or similar.
n
High level of personal resilience and flexibility with the ability to deal with challenging situations.
n

Experience working within an ACCO/ACCHO.
n
Experience in RAMF, Safe and Together and understanding related government strategies and frameworks.
n
