Job Description
Second Act Arts Inc. is seeking an organised, capable and proactive Production Support Officer to support the delivery of Chronicle, a community storytelling program taking place across Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
Chronicle is built on a simple idea: No such thing as an ordinary life. People are invited to share the experiences, memories and knowledge that have shaped who they are. Selected stories are explored through interviews, brought to life by professional performers at local live events, and preserved in beautifully produced books.
Participation is free, and we work with local communities and partner organisations to reach people whose experiences and perspectives may otherwise be absent from formal cultural and historical records.
The program is particularly concerned with whose stories are preserved, whose experiences are considered culturally significant, and removing barriers that can prevent people from participating in arts and cultural life.
This is a practical, hands-on production role supporting the many moving parts required to deliver Chronicle across multiple locations.
Role responsibilities
Coordinating venue bookings, access and event logistics
Obtaining quotes and arranging equipment hire, collection, delivery and returns
Assisting with production schedules, checklists, run sheets and production packs
Coordinating interviews, rehearsals and cast calls
Communicating with performers, participants, venues, councils and project partners
Coordinating flights, accommodation and ground transport
Assisting with front-of-house, bar and volunteer arrangements
Supporting publicity distribution and follow-up

Maintaining production trackers, deadlines and administrative records
Troubleshooting practical production issues as they arise
About the Candidate
We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for practical tasks. You should be able to keep track of multiple deadlines, communicate confidently with a wide range of people and solve problems without needing constant supervision.
Experience in events, theatre, arts production, festivals, community projects or similar environments would be particularly valuable.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys making things happen: the person who follows up the unanswered email, confirms the venue access, checks the equipment booking and spots the practical problem before it becomes an event-day disaster.
Work Setting
This is a casual, project-based role based in Perth, running from approximately October **** to May ****, with likely role developing further in the future.
Hours will vary according to the production schedule. As a guide, quieter weeks may involve approximately 3-5 hours, while busy event weeks may involve approximately ***** hours. These figures are indicative rather than guaranteed, and hours will be agreed in advance.
Some evening and weekend availability will be required. There will also be opportunities for regional WA and interstate travel, with approved travel and accommodation arranged separately.
There is strong potential for the role to be extended or become more substantial as Chronicle grows and further funding is confirmed. Ultimately, we want to find someone who can develop into a key part of our organisation.
