Job Description
About The Client n
Angaara is a popular traditional Indian restaurant in Truganina in VIC that specialises in Tandoori and Curries. They are currently looking for an experienced Cook to join their expanding team.
The Role n
This is a full time role with an annual salary set at $80,000 plus superannuation. The role is based in Truganina in VIC.
The Responsibilities n
Your tasks will consist of:
n
n
Examine food to ensure quality and presentation
n
Cooking variety of dishes from the menu and on pans with guidance of head chef
n
Cooking menu items in co-operation with the rest of the kitchen
n
Using different methods of cooking such as tandoori cooking, frying, steaming, boiling and roasting
n
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
n
Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
n
Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment maintain them in valuable working condition
n
Reporting to management if any maintenance is required
n
Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
n
Order raw materials to supplier as per business need
n
Review menu with head chef and contribute to some seasonal changes to the menu
n
Follow and maintain all OH≻ requirement for safe kitchen operations.
n
Clean and maintain work area and kitchen equipment
n
Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
n
Assist with the ordering of supplies
n
Ensure safety and sanitation practices in the kitchen
n
The Requirements n
To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:
n
n
Strong food knowledge and skills in authentic Indian cuisine
n
Relevant qualifications in cookery or hospitality
n
At least 12 months experience as a commercial cook in a restaurant kitchen
n
At least 12 months experience with cooking curry and Tandoori
n
At least 12 months cooking experience with open fire and the Tandoor oven
n
At least 12 months experience in preparing Indian sauces and Tandoori rub mix from
n
Must be able to work with proteins like beef, lamb and seafood
n
Experience in adherence to recipe & portion control, as well as ordering and stock control
n
Ability to follow instruction & take direction
n
Excellent time management and attention to detail
n
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standardsExcellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
n
Be available to work on weekends to deal with many customers
n
Available for split shifts and weekend work typical of hospitality
n
