About the role

Mater Townsville's Coronary Care and Cardiothoracic Unit (CCU/CTU) is seeking experienced and dedicated Registered Nurses to join our team. We offer excellent flexibility, with opportunities ranging from Permanent Part-Time (0.6 FTE) through to Full time and Casual employment available. Choose the arrangement that best suits your lifestyle! To be considered for this opportunity, this role requires participation in a 24/7 rotating roster including morning, afternoon, and night shifts.

Our Cardiothoracic & Coronary Care Unit is a 20-bed unit (7 dedicated Coronary Care beds), providing a high level of care for acutely ill and chronic
cardiovascular/cardiothoracic
patients, catering for elective and emergency admissions. Offering a wide variety of cardiac services to the community the team strives for excellence in customer care and best practice.
n
Salary range: $***** - $*****
per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you'll be doing
n
n
n
Delivering and evaluating evidence‐based nursing care within your scope of practice
n
Advocating for patients through education, informed consent, and shared decision‐making
n
Promoting a safe, respectful, and supportive clinical environment that upholds patient dignity, privacy, and wellbeing
n
Adhering to Infection Prevention and Control standards and safe clinical practices
n
Complying with organisational policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines
n
Monitoring patients pre‐, intra‐, and post‐procedure to ensure safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes
n
Administering medications, managing IV therapies, and assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
n
Providing education to patients and families regarding post‐procedure care, recovery,
and lifestyle modifications
n
Maintaining accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation in line with regulatory and professional standards
n

About you
n
To be successful in this role you will possess:
n
n
n
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
n
Demonstrated experience in critical care nursing
n
Previous experience within a cardiac ward environment
n
n
Visa sponsorship may be considered for exceptional international applicants with demonstrated extensive experience in cardiac care.
n
Critical Care Certificate (or currently working towards) – desirable but not essential
n
Strong clinical assessment, problem‐solving, and care coordination skills
n
Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights and weekends
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain accurate clinical and assessment documentation
n
