nAbout the Rolen
nOn behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Fitter & Welder to join their specialised engineering team. This hands-on role requires a versatile tradesperson who can deliver precision metalwork, equipment assembly, and maintenance services for their advanced agricultural and processing machinery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work with various metals and engineering systems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.n

nKey Duties & Responsibilitiesn
nPrecision Fabrication & Engineeringn
n• Interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications to determine materials, methods, and sequences of operation for custom fabrication projectsn
n• Fabricate and assemble precision metal components to exact tolerances for specialised machinery, processing equipment, and agricultural implementsn
n• Perform high-quality welding operations including TIG and MIG on various materials, with expertise in food-grade stainless steel fabricationn
n• Fit and align fabricated parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometres, callipers, and specialised gauges to ensure perfect assemblyn
n
nMachinery Setup & Advanced Metalworkingn
n• Set up, configure, and operate comprehensive machining tools including lathes, presses, grinders,
and drilling equipment for component manufacturing and repairn
n• Adjust machine controls, guides, and stops to achieve precise specifications and tolerances required for agricultural and food processing equipmentn
n• Operate various metalworking equipment to cut, shape, grind, and finish components, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality and precisionn
n• Install and commission hydraulic and pneumatic systems including precision pipe cutting, threading, bending, and fitting for machinery and processing plantsn
n
nMaintenance & Mechanical Systemsn
n• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform preventative maintenance on industrial equipment, processing machinery, and agricultural plant to ensure optimal performancen
n• Overhaul and repair complex mechanical components including gears, bearings, drive systems, and specialized agricultural machinery partsn
n• Service and maintain fluid power systems
(hydraulic/pneumatic)
and associated equipment used throughout the processing and agricultural operationsn
n• Assist with machinery and plant installation, commissioning, and relocation activities, ensuring all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and safety standardsn
n
nQuality Assurance & Continuous Improvementn
n• Conduct rigorous quality control checks throughout the fabrication and assembly process to ensure all work meets engineering standards and project requirementsn
n• Implement improvements to fabrication techniques and maintenance procedures to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiencyn
n• Maintain comprehensive documentation of work performed, including modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities for equipment history and traceabilityn
n
nEssential Qualifications & Experiencen
n• Trade Qualification as a Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Fitter & Welder, or equivalent recognised certificationn
n• Minimum 2 years' full-time post-apprenticeship experience in a similar role within manufacturing, FMCG, or agricultural engineering environmentsn
n• Current driver's licence and reliable transport to access various site locationsn
n

n• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, engineering specifications, and workshop manualsn
n• Expertise in using precision measuring instruments and conducting quality control checks to ensure work meets exacting standardsn
n• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a wide range of industrial and agricultural machineryn
n• Strong safety focus with comprehensive understanding and application of workshop protocols and risk management proceduresn
n• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work methodically and efficiently under pressuren
n• Flexibility to work across different projects and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic operational environmentn
