THE ROLE -An OPPORTUNITY to Make a difference

Thisisa full-time and permanent role, available for immediate start.
n
We are seeking a Senior Lawyer to join our multidisciplinary team of lawyers and social workers, providing clients with holistic and integrated legal support.
n
The role includes:
n
Family Law casework and trial work
n
Domestic and Family Violence case work and representation at hearings
n
Being rostered on as family law duty lawyer at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, including court appearances
n
n
Representation at Family Dispute Resolution conferences
n
n
Being rostered on as DFV duty lawyer for respondents at the Brisbane Magistrates Court, following accreditation as a domestic and family violence duty lawyer
n
This is an outstanding opportunity for a family lawyer with five years' post-admission experience who is looking to develop their advocacy skills and broaden their expertise. The position will be particularly rewarding for candidates considering a future career at the Bar or aspiring to practise as an Independent Children's Lawyer.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
n
Apply well-developed knowledge of family law and domestic and family violence law to deliver high-quality casework and trial work across the relevant programs, as well as rostered duty lawyer services.
n
n
Collaborate with social workers to provide holistic, client-centred services to a diverse range of clients within a human rights framework.
n
Deliver community legal education, build sector relationships, participate in qualified networks, and contribute to law and policy reform.
n
n
Provide supervision and guidance to restricted practitioners, PLT students and volunteers (this does not include line management)
n
n
Demonstrated 5+ years of experience in family law and domestic and family violence law
n
Bachelor of Laws
n
Eligible for admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland
n
Current Unrestricted Practising Certificate
n
Ability to complete the Legal Aid Queensland domestic and family violence duty lawyer accreditation
n
