Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions. HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees

Are you an experienced AOD nurse who is dynamic, solutions-focused and ready to make a genuine difference?
n
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Team Leader – AOD to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre.
n
This is more than a traditional clinical leadership role. You'll have the opportunity to shape the AOD service, develop your team, influence how care is delivered and drive meaningful improvements across a complex primary healthcare environment.
n
Working closely with the Health Services Manager and broader multidisciplinary team, you'll bring strong clinical judgement, a collaborative leadership style and a practical, solutions-focused approach to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred AOD care.

What you'll be doing
n
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, you'll provide clinical and operational leadership to the AOD team and play a key role in strengthening the service.
n
You will:
n
n
Lead the delivery of specialist AOD care, including assessment, withdrawal management, treatment planning, harm reduction and referrals.
n
Provide visible and supportive clinical leadership,



mentoring and professional guidance to the AOD team.
n
Oversee the delivery of withdrawal support and the OOAT Pharmacotherapy Program.
n
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is responsive, coordinated and person-centred.
n
Use your clinical expertise and judgement to identify risks, solve problems and support effective decision-making.
n
Identify opportunities to improve AOD services, processes and models of care and help turn ideas into practical solutions.
n
Support a positive team culture that encourages accountability, collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.
n
Lead clinical reviews, case conferences, multidisciplinary meetings and quality improvement activities.
n
Support staff development through education, supervision and professional development.
n
Promote high standards of clinical documentation, care planning, auditing and clinical governance.
n
Build strong and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
n
Partner with the Health Services Manager to support effective day-to-day service delivery and broader operational priorities.
n

You'll bring:

Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
n
A postgraduate qualification in AOD or Mental Health with
5+ years' specialist AOD experience
, or
7+ years' specialist AOD nursing experience
.
n
At least 5 years' post-graduate, non-telehealth clinical experience, including AOD care.
n




Previous clinical leadership or healthcare management experience.
n
Strong knowledge of AOD practice, withdrawal management, pharmacotherapy and trauma-informed care.
n
Sound clinical judgement and the ability to confidently assess risk and make decisions in a complex workplace.
n
A

and the ability to look beyond the immediate problem to identify practical and sustainable solutions.

The ability to lead change, influence others and bring people with you.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
