About the role: Hunter Valley Private Hospital seeks an enthusiastic Speech Pathologist to join our Allied Health team on a casual basis.
The caseload is predominantly neurological, along with a range of other medical conditions, with assessment and treatment of both inpatients and outpatients.
The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary Allied Health department, which seeks to provide our patients with high-quality evidence based, consumer-centred care.
About us: Hunter Valley Private Hospital is an 83-bed hospital.
We provide a range of rehabilitation, surgical and medical services including palliative care and pain management.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to experience a wide-ranging clinical caseload across the acute and sub-acute setting
Hunter Valley Private Hospital is accredited by ACHS and has a dedicated focus on providing quality healthcare to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessing and managingdysphagia
Assessing and managing patients with language and communication problems
Provision of swallowing, speech and language therapy for inpatient and day patient services (diagnoses of clients include neurological, general medical and surgical conditions)
Complete relevant documentation pertaining to Functional Independent Measure (FIM)
Actively participate in case conference / progress meetings with the multi-disciplinary team
Bachelor of Speech Pathology
Previous clinical experience in adult Speech Pathology medical and/or rehabilitation setting
Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills
Flexible, positive approach to work
Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage a caseload
Capacity to work as sole clinician
FIM accreditation
Availability on Monday and Thursday
