nOn behalf of our client - a specialist in industrial maintenance, shutdowns, and mechanical upgrades across mining and heavy industry - we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician. This role focuses on hands-on technical support, from drafting to field testing, ensuring reliability in high-pressure environments.n

nKey Dutiesn
n
nDesign & Documentationn
n• Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, plans, and designs under the direction of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists, with a focus on industrial plant and equipment modifications.n
n• Assist in designing mechanical equipment and hydraulic power systems for site-specific upgrades and shutdown projects.n
n
nAssembly & Installationn
n• Assemble, install, and modify mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, and hydraulic power systems, ensuring compliance with operational safety and performance standards.n
n• Select appropriate tools and equipment for each task, considering environmental conditions and project timelines.n
n
nAnalysis & Testingn
n• Perform and direct field and laboratory tests on machinery and plant systems to validate performance under load.n
n• Collect and analyze data from tests, carry out complex computations, and prepare diagrams to support engineering decisions.n
n
nMaterials & Cost Estimationn




n• Estimate material costs, quantities, and machine requirements for maintenance scopes and capital works, aligning with project budgets.n
n• Prepare technical reports that support procurement and resource planning.n
n
nInspection & Compliancen
n• Organize and supervise inspection and maintenance schedules for machines and plant, prioritizing uptime and reliability.n
n• Ensure all designs and finished work meet specifications, regulations, and contract provisions, including site safety standards.n
n
nRequirementsn
n• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)n
n• Minimum 2 years of experience in a mechanical technician role within industrial maintenance, mining, or heavy engineering environmentsn
n• Proficiency in reading and preparing mechanical drawings and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)n
n• Robust understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, machine tools, and mechanical assembliesn
n• Experience in field testing, data collection, and analysis of mechanical systemsn
n• Ability to estimate material quantities and costs accuratelyn
n• Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and compliance standardsn
n• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailn
n• Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers and site teamsn
n• Valid driver's license and willingness to work on-site as requiredn
