Located on Howitt Street in Ballarat, the workshop provides general and logbook servicing, brake and suspension repairs, wheel alignment and balancing, battery services, tyre repairs and 4WD suspension services.

We are seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic (General) to join our workshop team.
The successful applicant will perform vehicle servicing, mechanical inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs and maintenance across a range of lightweight motor vehicles, helping ensure vehicles are secure, reliable and maintained to a high standard.
Key responsibilities Inspect and assess vehicles to identify mechanical faults, worn components and required repairs.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components using appropriate inspection methods and computerised diagnostic equipment.
Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering components, suspension systems and other mechanical parts for inspection and repair.
Repair, replace and reassemble worn or defective mechanical components in accordance with service manuals and manufacturer specifications.
Carry out scheduled servicing and routine maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks and engine servicing.
Service and repair braking systems, including brake pads, discs, drums, callipers and associated components.
Inspect, repair and replace steering and suspension components, including shock absorbers, springs, bushes, joints and related parts.
Carry out servicing and mechanical repairs on passenger vehicles and light 4WD vehicles,



including suspension and related components.
Perform tyre and wheel-related services, including tyre fitting, rotation, wheel balancing and alignment, where required.
Inspect batteries, starting and charging system components and replace defective parts where required.
Test and adjust repaired mechanical components to confirm correct operation and vehicle performance.
Conduct road tests and final inspections following servicing and repairs to ensure work has been completed safely and correctly.
Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and identify repairs or maintenance required to meet applicable safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs, parts used and work completed.
Use workshop tools, hoists, diagnostic equipment and other machinery safely and correctly.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment and follow workplace health and safety procedures.
Work effectively with other workshop staff to complete servicing and repairs efficiently and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
Skills and qualifications Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent relevant trade qualification.
At least 1 year of relevant experience in motor vehicle servicing and mechanical repair.
Sound knowledge of vehicle engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and braking systems.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills, including the use of computerised vehicle diagnostic equipment.
Ability to carry out scheduled servicing, mechanical repairs and component replacement on lightweight motor vehicles.
Experience with tyres, wheel balancing, wheel alignment and suspension systems would be advantageous.
Experience servicing light 4WD vehicles would be advantageous.
Ability to use workshop tools, equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
Good attention to detail and ability to complete work accurately and efficiently.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
