About the Role
n
As part of our continued growth, we're looking for an experienced
Senior Mechanical Engineer
to join our Construction Team.
n
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll manage and coordinate HVAC design across construction and estimating projects, ensuring designs meet project requirements, Australian standards, timelines and quality expectations.
n
You'll work closely with Project Managers, Estimating, subcontractors and clients to resolve design and site coordination issues and provide practical engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
n
This is a hands-on role combining
HVAC design, technical coordination, site inspections, commissioning support and client interaction
.
n

Desired Skills and Experience
n
n
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
n
Minimum 8 years' Mechanical Engineering experience within the HVAC industry in Australia.
n
Strong hands-on experience in HVAC design for commercial construction projects.
n
Strong knowledge of Australian HVAC standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
n
Robust working knowledge of relevant HVAC engineering and design software.
n
Ability to review designs, identify technical issues and develop practical solutions for site conditions.
n
Experience working directly with Project Managers, construction teams, subcontractors and clients.
n
Experience across commercial construction projects, including new-build and fit-out environments.
n
Strong communication, organisation and time management skills.
n
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project priorities.
n
Good commercial awareness, including understanding the cost and project impacts of engineering decisions.
n
Current driver licence and White Card.
n

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Manage and coordinate HVAC design across construction and estimating projects.
n
Review designs against site conditions, project requirements, Australian standards and codes.
n
Carry out engineering calculations for system sizing, equipment selection, installation, modifications and project requirements.
n
Review technical selections and provide practical engineering solutions.
n
Work closely with Project Managers and construction teams to resolve design and site coordination issues.
n
Coordinate technical requirements with subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
n
Attend client, design and site meetings to resolve technical issues and provide engineering advice.
n
Conduct site and tender inspections.
n
Review installations against approved designs to ensure quality and compliance.
n
Support commissioning, system performance reviews, troubleshooting and handover documentation.
n
Identify design risks, value engineering opportunities and potential project variations.
n
Prepare technical reviews, audits and dilapidation reports as required.
n
Provide value engineering solutions during tender and project delivery.
n
Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the Construction Team.
n
Maintain robust professional relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
