JobScout Pty Ltd are working to assist our client, Expert Telecommunications Pty Ltd, trading as Expert IT Telco, an established Melbourne ICT provider operating since ****.
From its Preston base the business delivers business phone systems, managed IT, managed networks and business internet to organisations across Victoria and nationally.
Our client is seeking an experienced Computer Network and Systems Engineer on a full-time, ongoing basis, taking responsibility for the planning, deployment, configuration management and operational readiness of client network and system environments.
Responsibilities of our Computer Network and Systems Engineer will include: ·Planning, developing, deploying, testing and optimising network and system services across client environments, taking responsibility for configuration management and overall operational readiness.
·Analysing, designing, testing and evaluating network systems, including local area networks, wide area networks, VLAN segmentation, VPN links and multi-site data communications architectures.
·Researching, analysing and recommending strategies for network architecture and development, and evaluating integrated hardware, software, communications and operating system products against client requirements.
·Designing and documenting network topologies, IP addressing schemes and routing configurations appropriate to each client's site layout, bandwidth requirements and growth plans.
·Configuring, integrating and maintaining server and system infrastructure in environments running multiple operating systems and configurations, including Windows Server, Linux and virtualised host environments.
·Administering directory, identity and email platforms including Active Directory and Microsoft 365, covering user and group provisioning, access control, policy configuration and tenant security settings.
·Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting networking hardware and software, including routers, managed switches, firewalls, wireless access points and session border controllers.
·Planning and implementing network security, including firewall rule sets, site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, network access control, segmentation of guest and corporate traffic, endpoint protection integration and remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
·Undertaking network and systems performance monitoring and capacity analysis, interpreting latency, jitter, packet loss and throughput data,
and performing systems testing and optimisation to maintain service quality.
·Providing troubleshooting and fault-finding services for escalated network, server and connectivity problems, including carrier-side issues across nbn, Enterprise Ethernet, fibre and 4G/5G backup services.
·Integrating cloud-hosted and on-premises VoIP telephony platforms with client data networks, including SIP trunking, call routing, quality of service policies and voice VLAN configuration.
·Coordinating and executing network and system migrations and cutovers, including platform transitions and carrier service changes, with planning to minimise client downtime.
·Installing network and system software and applying firmware and patch updates across network, server and voice infrastructure in line with vendor release cycles and change management procedures.
·Configuring, testing and verifying backup, failover and disaster recovery arrangements for client network, server and communications services.
·Assisting in preparing network policies, procedures, standard build configurations and technical documentation, including site build documents, network diagrams and as-built records.
·Providing technical support and advice to clients and internal staff, including technical input on proposed network and system solutions and handover training on installed systems.
·Conducting network and systems audits at client premises, assessing existing infrastructure and wireless coverage, and preparing recommendations for upgrade or replacement.
·Liaising with carriers, vendors and equipment suppliers on service provisioning, fault escalation and warranty matters, and maintaining accurate records of configurations, client assets and service changes.
To be successfully considered for the role, you: ·Hold a bachelor's degree or higher qualification in computer science, information technology, telecommunications engineering, networking or a related discipline.
At least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification.
In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
·Have a minimum of three years' experience working as a Computer Network and Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or in an equivalent network and systems engineering role.
·Have demonstrated hands-on experience designing, configuring and supporting LAN and WAN environments, including routers, managed switches, firewalls and wireless infrastructure.
·Have practical experience administering server and system environments across multiple operating systems, including Windows Server, Linux and virtualisation platforms.
·Have working experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365 administration and identity and access management.
·Have working knowledge of network security principles, including firewall administration, VPN configuration and network segmentation.
·Have exposure to VoIP and IP telephony platforms, SIP and voice quality of service in a business environment.
·Are competent diagnosing complex faults across the network, system, carrier and application layers, and can work an issue through to resolution.
·Have experience working with Australian carrier services such as nbn, Enterprise Ethernet or business fibre (advantageous).
·Can document your work clearly and communicate technical matters to non-technical clients.
·Hold a current Australian driver's licence and are willing to attend client sites across metropolitan Melbourne.
This is a full-time position of at least 38 hours per week.
