The Team:
THS Pathology -LGH provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania.
We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania.
Our service aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests.
The team at THS Pathology -LGH comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.
The Role:
This role will support the Staff Specialist Microbiologist by providing clinical and diagnostic advice to Pathology and the ID physician team within the Infectious Diseases Department at LGH.
The position will also provide leave coverage for the Staff Specialist Microbiologist during periods of absence.
You will need:
Experience in management of the clinical microbiology service including bench-level advice
Experience in communication of critical microbiology results to the treating teams
To be prepared for regular interaction with the hospital's infectious diseases service and the infection control unit
Teaching and research skills
Positive understanding of laboratory safety

Details of appointment:
Fixed term part time, day worker (with on‐call) position, working up to 22.8 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until20 April ****.

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 -$319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
Provision of a motor vehicle allowance of $30,254 per annum, pro rata
Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 per annum, pro rata
Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Holds specialist registration
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed ashaving sufficient experience in the speciality.
Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
