The Chance:
Due to an internal promotion, we're looking for our next Year 6 Coordinator to join our team commencing in January ****.
The Year 6 Coordinator will oversee the personal wellbeing of students at their year level, to maximise the benefits they gain from their schooling and ensure the highest level of pastoral care.
The Year 6 Coordinator is responsible for developing, leading and facilitating appropriate activities and programs for students in Year 6.
The Year 6 Coordinator will join the Pastoral Care Team and will work closely with the Head of Middle School, Deputy Principal - Student Life and Wellbeing, Assistant Head of Middle School, Community Coordinators, Year 7 Coordinator, Year 6 Teachers, College Counsellors, Chaplains, Diverse Learning Team, Director of Outdoor Education and other staff in the provision of appropriate pastoral care.
Close and effective communication with students, staff and families is essential in this role, as is a willingness to work outside normal school hours.
The Year 6 Coordinator is expected to be available for student / staff / parent contact before school, after school and during breaks as required.
The Position of Responsibility tenure is for an initial 3-year term, with a further potential 2 years offered after the completion of a role and incumbent review, underpinned by a permanent teaching position.
The role:
To know every student across Year 6 and, together with the Year 6 Core Teachers, promote their individual growth and personal development
To develop proactive programs and practices to ensure optimal student wellbeing
To identify and manage students who are identified as risk
To counsel students on serious matters of discipline.
To liaise as required on these matters with the Deputy of Principal - Student Life and Wellbeing and Head of Middle School
To provide effective leadership, guidance and support to Year 6 Core Teachers
To monitor the academic performance of each student through assessments, reports, and regular consultations with Year 6 Core Teachers as necessary
Promote a trusting and caring approach within the classroom
Ability to collaborate with other Pedare staff
Ability to relate well to students, recognising both the pastoral and educative aspects of the student-teacher relationship
Maintain an interest in the welfare of students and promote the wellbeing of students
Some out of hours may be required due to role requirements
What we need:
A current South Australian Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) certificate
Current Teacher Registration Certificate in South Australia
First Aid and CPR Certificate (preferred)
Academic Transcripts and Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates, Statements of Service
All certificates and qualification(s) must be provided to the College prior to commencement of employment; and the College requires the applicant to disclose any information relevant to their eligibility to engage in activities involving children and young people.
