About the Role
n
We are seeking compassionate and committed Residential youth Workers to provide safe, stable, and nurturing home environments for children and young people in out-of-home care. This role focuses on delivering consistent, child-centred care that supports each young person's emotional, physical, and developmental needs within a therapeutic care framework.
n
You will work as part of a supportive team to help children and young people feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their goals.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
• Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured home environment
n • Support children and young people's physical and emotional wellbeing
n • Implement individual care and behaviour support plans
n • Build positive, respectful relationships through active listening and engagement
n • Apply therapeutic strategies to support emotional regulation and development
n • Assist with daily living tasks including meals, personal care, hygiene, and household routines
n • Facilitate participation in recreational, social, educational, and community activities
n • Transport children and young people to school, appointments, and activities
n • Administer medication in line with policy and procedures
n • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and documentation




n • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours using de-escalation strategies
n • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training
n • Ensure safety and wellbeing are prioritised at all times
n • Follow incident reporting, risk management, and workplace health and safety procedures
n
Skills and Experience
n
• Robust communication and interpersonal skills
n • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
n • Confidence in supporting children with complex needs
n • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and resilient in challenging situations
n • Household management and daily living support skills
n • Positive, child-focused approach to care
n • Ability to work independently and use sound judgement
n
Essential Requirements
n
• Current First Aid Certificate
n • Current Working With Children Check
n • National Police Clearance
n • Child Protection Screening Check
n • Current Driver's Licence
n • Experience working with children in care (highly regarded)
n
Roster & Work-Life Balance
n
• Enjoy a 7 days on / 7 days off roster
n • Work only half the year while maintaining consistent full-time employment
n • Ideal for strong work-life balance and extended time off between shifts
n
