The Opportunity Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated Financial Systems Accountant to join our team.
In this role, you will provide specialist accounting and systems expertise to support the effective administration, integrity and optimisation of Council's financial systems.
You will play a key role in financial reporting, system enhancements and upgrades, data integrity, issue resolution and continuous improvement.

What You Will Be Doing Administer and maintain Council's financial management and ERP systems, ensuring system security, stability and data integrity Support month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations, data validation and financial reporting Lead and contribute to financial system enhancements, upgrades and ERP projects, including testing and data migration Investigation and resolution of financial system, data and integration issues in collaboration with Information Technology and external vendors Provide guidance,



training and ongoing support to financial system users Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation, standardisation and improved data quality.
Essential Requirements Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with membership of a recognised professional accounting body (such as CPA, CA or equivalent), or demonstrated progress towards attaining membership, and a commitment to ongoing professional development Demonstrated experience in administering and supporting financial management systems within a complex, regulated environment, preferably in local government or the public sector Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and Australian Accounting Standards, with the ability to translate accounting requirements into effective system configurations and controls Proven experience supporting month-end and year-end processes through financial systems, including reconciliations, data validation and system-based reporting High level of proficiency in financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel, with the ability to extract, manipulate and analyse large datasets to support reporting, audit and decision-making requirements Demonstrated experience in system upgrades, enhancements or ERP implementations, including system testing, user acceptance testing, data migration and documentation Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose system and data issues, identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with finance staff, IT teams and business users, and to provide clear system guidance, training and support.
