General Practitioner Forensic Medical Officer | Northern Rivers NSWSexual Assault Forensic Examination | Northern NSW Make a meaningful difference to patients at a time when compassionate, timely and expert medical care matters most.
Sante Recruitment is seeking General Practitioners with recognised qualifications and appropriate training in the forensic examination of suspected sexual assault to join Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD).
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for experienced GPs to provide specialised medical and forensic assessment to paediatric, adolescent and adult patients following the disclosure of sexual assault.
Applicants who do not currently hold the required forensic examination qualification but are willing to undertake relevant training approved by NNSWLHD are also encouraged to apply.
The Opportunity The successful GP will provide timely medical and forensic responses to patients requiring immediate assessment and intervention following suspected or disclosed sexual assault.
Working across designated NNSWLHD hospitals, you will provide a comprehensive, patient-centred service while working collaboratively with hospital teams and relevant health professionals.
The position forms part of a 24/7 on-call service , requiring the successful applicant to be able to respond within two hours when called upon.
Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive medical and forensic assessment following suspected or disclosed sexual assault.
Undertake forensic examinations of paediatric, adolescent and adult patients , within the scope of your training and credentialling.
Provide timely medical intervention and appropriate clinical management.
Respond to designated NNSWLHD hospitals as required.
Participate in a 24/7 on-call roster .
Respond within the required two-hour timeframe when called.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Ensure appropriate documentation and management of forensic evidence.
Maintain a sensitive, trauma-informed and patient-centred approach.
Support optimal clinical outcomes and continuity of care.
Participate in relevant education, training and professional development.
Training Development NNSWLHD welcomes applications from GPs who already have appropriate recognised qualifications and experience in forensic sexual assault examination.
GPs who do not currently hold the relevant forensic qualification but are willing to undertake approved training are also encouraged to apply.
This provides an opportunity for suitably qualified GPs to develop specialised forensic skills while contributing to an important regional healthcare service.

About You You will be a General Practitioner with: General Registration with AHPRA , or eligibility for registration.
Appropriate postgraduate medical experience.
Recognised qualifications and training in forensic examination of suspected sexual assault , or a willingness to undertake relevant NNSWLHD-approved training.
Ability to assess and manage patients across paediatric, adolescent and adult presentations, within appropriate credentialling.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A compassionate, professional and trauma-informed approach.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety and high-quality clinical care.
Availability to participate in a 24/7 on-call roster .
Ability to respond within two hours when rostered on call.
