Indian Ocean – Indian Restaurant in Cowes, Phillip Island is seeking a motivated and experienced full-time Chef to join our kitchen team.
The successful applicant will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and efficiency.
Key responsibilities will include: Planning menus and estimating food and labour costs.
Ordering food, ingredients and kitchen supplies as required.
Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
Discussing food preparation and kitchen-related issues with management, kitchen staff and waiting staff.
Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising staff on appropriate cooking procedures.
Preparing, seasoning and cooking a variety of dishes to a high standard.
Ensuring meals are prepared consistently and presented appropriately.
Explaining and enforcing food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness requirements.




Maintaining compliance with applicable food safety and workplace hygiene standards.
Assisting with the selection, supervision and training of kitchen staff where required.
Freezing, preserving and storing food safely and appropriately.
Monitoring stock levels and helping minimise food wastage.
Supporting the efficient and organised operation of the kitchen during busy service periods.
Requirements: Relevant commercial cookery qualification.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef.
Strong understanding of commercial kitchen operations.
Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Valuable communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
Position: Full-time, ongoing Hours: Minimum 38 hours per week Location: Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria Employer-sponsored visa applicants may be considered subject to eligibility and applicable immigration requirements.
