Ridgeport Holdings Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and capable Thoroughbred Stud Husbandry Worker to join our thoroughbred breeding operation in Western Australia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day care, handling, feeding, health monitoring and welfare of thoroughbred horses of various ages, including mares, foals, yearlings and stallions.
This is a hands-on role requiring practical experience in thoroughbred husbandry and a strong commitment to animal health, welfare and farm standards.
Key Responsibilities · Assist with the day-to-day care, handling and welfare of thoroughbred horses at the breeding and training facility · Assist veterinarians and coordinate routine farrier requirements · Assist with foaling down mares during the breeding season and stallion covers · Implement feeding schedules and adjust feeding as required based on individual horse needs · Assist with the exercise, preparation and training of yearlings and attend major bloodstock sales as required · Monitor horses and promptly identify and report health or welfare concerns · Administer prescribed medication, provide bandaging and maintain accurate and timely animal health records · Undertake general horse husbandry, stable and farm duties as required About You The successful applicant will have: · Strong practical experience handling and caring for horses of different ages and stages of development · Minimum 2 years' experience working in a thoroughbred stud, breeding operation or similar livestock husbandry environment · Sound knowledge of horse husbandry, feeding,



health monitoring and general animal welfare · Experience assisting with veterinary treatments, medication, bandaging and routine animal health requirements · Experience working with mares, foals, yearlings and/or stallions will be highly regarded · The ability to safely and confidently handle horses in a range of situations · A strong work ethic and the ability to complete tasks effectively and efficiently · The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team · Excellent time-management and organisational skills · Reliability, punctuality and a strong attention to detail · A genuine commitment to maintaining high standards of animal health, welfare and care · Flexibility to work split shifts, weekends and additional hours during busy periods such as breeding and foaling seasons We offer · Full-time position, with split shifts covering early mornings and afternoons, including weekend work as required · A market-competitive salary package of $75,000–$85,000 + superannuation · On-farm accommodation in a shared house available for the right candidate · Well-maintained farm with excellent infrastructure and facilities · The opportunity to work within an established thoroughbred breeding operation How to Apply If you have the relevant experience and a passion for working with thoroughbred horses, we would love to hear from you.
