Job Description
Caring Approach is a fast growing, vibrant, supportive and caring organisation . We provide tailored in home support, community care and accommodation for the elderly and people with both physical and intellectual disabilities across Sydney & Canberra.n
n
nWe are seeking caring and skilled individuals to become part of the Caring Approach team to promote independence for people living at home. Caring Approach has a position available for skilled Disability Service Officers.n
n
nGeneral duties include:n
n
nProvide daily planning, advocacy, service communication & transport as required.n
nDocumenting daily routines and monitoring outcomes.n
nCoordinate services where required to do so.n
nProvide 1:1 or small group training in response to peoples needs.n
nFood preparation and service where required.n
nMedication administration and monitoring of associated documentation.n
nWorking in conjunction with the clinical care coordinator to implement best practices.n
nAssistance with activities of daily living.n
nAssist with applying for and monitoring a persons individual funding to ensure it meets peoples support needs.n
nSupporting people with complex needs and provide information to their health supports as required.n
nTo be successful in this role you will need:n
n
nAn understanding of delivering care in a person centred wayn
nDiploma of Disabilityn
nThe ability to problem solve and advocate on peoples behalfn
nBe available for a variety of shiftsn
nAbility to fulfil shift duties and have excellent time management skillsn
nHave appropriate visa to work in Australian
nCurrent Police check within the last 12 months or willingness to obtain prior to employmentn
nWorking with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP)n
nSmart phone with the ability to install appsn
n6 months minimum experience delivering / coordinating personal care and servicesn
nCurrent first aid/CPR certificaten
nDrivers licence and own fully insured transportn
nHave an empathetic and understanding approach to providing care to people with complex needs including mental healthn
nCompletion of the NDIS new worker module or willingness to complete as part of the organisations induction process.n
n
nDesirable:n
n
nExperience in working with people with an intellectual disabilityn
nCertification and or experience in bowel caren
nCertification and or experience in medication administrationn
nExperience in working with people that require manual handlingn
nability to implement positive behaviour support strategies and an awareness of person centred active support including monitoring of restricted practicen
n
