About the Role
As the Cloud Operations Manager, you will lead the delivery and ongoing management of the University's cloud and infrastructure services, driving the transition to a cloud-first environment. You'll provide strategic and technical leadership across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and on-premises platforms, ensuring services are secure, reliable, scalable and cost-effective. This role will play a critical part in modernising infrastructure, enabling digital transformation and supporting the University's teaching, research and operational objectives.
About the Team
Digital Services is responsible for delivering the technology, digital platforms, cyber security, data and enterprise systems that support the University's teaching, research and operational activities. The team partners closely with academic and professional staff across the University to drive innovation, modernise technology platforms and enable strategic priorities through digital transformation.
As part of the Enterprise Technology Operations team, you'll work within a collaborative group of cloud, infrastructure and platform specialists responsible for the systems that underpin the University's digital environment.
The team provides the operational foundations that enable secure, reliable and seamless technology experiences for students, researchers and staff, while supporting the University's ongoing technology modernisation and growth.
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience leading cloud operations, infrastructure, platform engineering or technology operations teams in a large and complex workplace.
- Strong expertise across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Experience with cloud networking, identity and access management, security, monitoring and operational governance.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates), automation and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience delivering highly available, resilient and secure technology services with a focus on operational excellence.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery, business continuity, backup and recovery strategies.
- Experience managing cloud costs, optimisation initiatives and operational performance metrics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Relevant qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline, with Azure certifications highly regarded.

Role Details
- Employment type: Permanent/Continuing | Full-time
- Level 8/9 | $123,283 - $152,959 + 17% superannuation.
