About the opportunity
Unison Solar Energy is seeking an experienced Process Quality & Improvement Engineer to help shape the next stage of our manufacturing capability. This is an chance to take a leading role in establishing, optimising and embedding process quality controls across our manufacturing environment, supporting the business with reliable, consistent and quality outcomes.
Working as part of a diverse and multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with stakeholders across Manufacturing, Engineering, Laboratory, Research & Design to identify risks, solve complex quality challenges and drive continuous improvement. Make your mark across our manufacturing operation, leveraging your expertise in data-driven analysis, structured problem-solving and process quality to improve yield, prevent defects, strengthen quality systems and support business growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing quality processes and controls.
- Support NPI, trial production, process validation, equipment commissioning and production ramp-up activities.
- Apply quality tools including SPC, Pareto analysis, PFMEA, MSA/GR&R; and process capability assessments.
- Lead cross-functional quality and yield improvement initiatives across Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D; and Laboratory.
- Develop and maintain control plans, inspection standards, defect criteria and reaction plans.
- Analyse quality, yield and defect data to identify risks, trends and opportunities for improvement.
What you will bring
- A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated process or manufacturing quality experience, with proven capability in structured problem-solving, including root-cause analysis and 8D/CAPA.
- Strong practical knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC,
MSA/GR&R; and process capability.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn quality data into practical improvement actions.
- A collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge, influence and escalate when required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across technical and operational teams.
- A hands-on mindset and a genuine drive for continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.
- Willingness to develop additional laboratory testing skills and complete required competency training.
- Experience in solar, renewable energy, electrical products, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, defence or another relevant sector will be highly regarded.
