Our client, a national manufacturing and construction Company, continues to strategically grow their manufacturing and distribution (including installation & construction of small to medium sized projects < $20M; typically $2 – 6M) business throughout Australia. With Branches in every State, our client’s focus is to continue leveraging their design, construction, and manufacturing capability, and develop new and innovative products and solutions for their customers across Australia.

As the WA Estimator, reporting to the State Manager, you will be responsible for working closely with the sales teams, and State Manager in the securing of projects within a team environment. Specific responsibilities as the Companies Estimator will include: preparing estimates in a timely manner, reviewing and / or analysing and evaluating cost estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products, understanding scope of work to bid and managing bid pricing from all vendors, establishing and maintaining working relationships with vendors and subcontractors etc, and participating in pursuing new projects and securing tendering opportunities in conjunction with the company’s sales and construction team.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate / possess:

- Trade Qualifications in the building industry. Tertiary qualifications in engineering and construction and / or related disciplines are highly desirable.

- 3+ years’ experience in an estimating position in the building / construction sector – ideally in the commercial / industrial or residential sector.



Experience may have been working in a construction company, contracting business or for a building products manufacturer involved in supply and installation of medium sized projects. Experience in panel system or a cladding field would be highly advantageous.

- Current general understanding of WA construction practices; able to identify site conditions and adapt estimates to suit.

- Ability to read / review building plans including architectural plans, tender packages and develop compliant cost estimates

- General understanding of best practices utilizing lifting equipment

- General understanding of legal contracts and compliance matters as it relates to construction projects

- Strong attention to detail. Great organizational skills. Able to multi-task.

- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal / relationship building skills

- IT literacy - Excel, Estimating Platforms ie Costex or similar, Microsoft Project

- Strong conceptual skills. Excellent problem-solving skills - able to apply practical and common-sense solutions.

- Ability to use initiative, be commercially savvy, results oriented

- A collaborative working style. Team based.
