District Eatery is a modern neighbourhood café in Gladesville, Sydney, known for its elevated brunch and relaxed local vibe.
n It serves all-day breakfast, brunch, and lunch, focusing on fresh seasonal ingredients, specialty coffee (including St Ali), and creative takes on Aussie café classics.
n District Eatery is now looking for an experienced Cook to join their team.
The right candidate will be responsible for:
n
n
- Assist chefs with the preparation and cooking of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes;
n
- Prepare, cook and portion ingredients including meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, vegetables, grains and other fresh produce;
n
- Cook menu items using appropriate techniques such as grilling, frying, poaching, roasting, sautéing and baking;
n
- Prepare dishes in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, presentation standards and customer orders;
n
- Assist with the preparation of menu items such as egg dishes, burgers, breakfast rolls, bowls, salads and other café meals;
n
- Monitor the quality, freshness and consistency of ingredients and finished dishes;
n
- Minimise food wastage through appropriate portion control, preparation and storage practices;
n
- Ensure ingredients and prepared foods are correctly labelled, dated, rotated and stored in accordance with food safety requirements;
n
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen work areas, cooking equipment and utensils;
n
- Follow food safety, workplace health and safety,
allergen management and hygiene procedures;
n
- Assist chefs with stock control, receiving deliveries and monitoring kitchen supplies;
n
- Coordinate with chefs, kitchen staff and front-of-house staff to ensure meals are prepared accurately and served efficiently;
n
- Assist with training junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking methods, plating and kitchen procedures;
n
- Contribute to menu changes and specials by providing feedback on preparation methods, ingredients and presentation; and
n
- Assist with the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen during busy breakfast, brunch and lunch service periods.

About you: n
n
n
- At least 1 year of experience as a Cook;
n
- Strong cooking, food preparation and kitchen organisation skills;
n
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a kitchen team and manage multiple orders during busy service periods;
n
- Good knowledge of cooking techniques, food presentation and portion control;
n
- Ability to assist chefs and other kitchen staff throughout service;
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent food quality;
n
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements;
n
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a rapid-paced kitchen environment; and
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job type: Permanent/full-timen
nSalary: $79,000 - $85,000 n
