Job Overview:
n
A strong grasp of fundamental concepts from first principles is expected, with solid experience in th use of SACS is required.
n The Senior Structural Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Structural (Eng) discipline within McDermott.
n They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Structural (Eng) discipline.
n The Senior Structural Engineer solves complex problems and uses their discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Structural Engineer impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Structural (Eng) team and other related teams and ensures that they are working within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities n
n
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
n
n
- Performs analysis and design structural engineering work for Subsea Structures and Construction Structural Engineering.
n
- Deliver the detail engineering design scopes in accordance with the approved budget and baseline schedule.
n
- Undertake detail design engineering activities in compliance with MDR Quality Management System Procedures and project specific procedures/plans.
n
- Identify interfaces and deliverables.
n
- Participate in internal, client and third party technical audit on engineering deliverables and vendor documents.
n
- Coordinate with Geotechnical design engineering team for scope of work related to the subsea structures
n
- Responsible for the quality and accuracy of engineering deliverables including design criteria, specifications, reports, studies,
and insuring that structural design is accurately and completely represented on drawings.
n
- Performs fabrication support engineering, and offshore installation support engineering.
n
- Prepares engineering estimates, and engineering proposals.
n
- Works with other Structural Engineers and Designers on project structural teams.
n
- Interacts effectively with engineers in all disciplines, drafters / designers, project management team, internal and external customers.
n
- Prepare engineering design calculations and analysis of structural and marine items in accordance with Australian and International codes and standards, and project requirements.
n
- Perform concept and detailed design of installation aids for offshore operations, grillage and seafastening.
n
- Review all detailed drawings/ project weight control report ensuring technical correctness, qualified presentation and that fabrication and installation requirements are satisfied
n
- Perform vessel and barge structural integrity checks on basis of project requirements.
n
- Review and action comments from clients & other agencies on documents and drawings produced by the discipline engineers,
n
- Identify changes in scope and raise change notifications.
n
- Provide technical support to all fabrication queries. Identify defect / rectification requirements.
n
n
Administratively Reports to: Lead Structural Engineer
n
Functionally Reports to: Functional Engineering Manager
n
Supervises: Structural Engineer, Discipline Engineers and Designers within the group
n
Liaises With: PMT, Other engineering disciplines, Fabrication, Client, third parties
n
Qualifications n
n
Essential Qualifications and Education:
n
n
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering
n
- More than 6 years in structural engineering related to offshore oil and gas facilities, including EPCI projects.
n
n
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
n
n
- Proficient with API and AISC codes.
n
- Proficient knowledge of all design techniques and analysis method from first principles. Detailed knowledge of fabrication yard procedures and offshore equipment. Familiarity with heavy lift, weighing and load out.
n
- Experience in structural design software such as SACS and ANSYS/ABAQUS
n
- Familiarity with structural and/or mechanical engineering and equipment used in the O&G; industry offshore, e.g. vessel codes, standards and specifications.
n
