At WSP, we're helping deliver the next generation of transmission infrastructure that will power Australia's energy transition. As our Power & Energy team continues to grow, we're seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Electrical Engineer (EHV) to provide technical leadership across major transmission and substation projects throughout Australia.
n
Working on projects ranging from 330kV to 500kV , you'll play a key role in delivering complex substation and transmission solutions while mentoring engineers and contributing to the technical excellence of our national team.

What You'll Do
n
In this client-facing technical leadership role, you will:
n
n
- Lead the delivery of EHV/HV substation primary design packages from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
n
- Provide technical direction, guidance, and mentorship to engineers across the Power & Energy business.
n
- Undertake and review technical studies, design calculations, and engineering assessments.
n
- Develop substation layouts, equipment arrangements, specifications, and design documentation.
n
- Support project teams during design reviews, construction, commissioning, and project delivery phases.
n
- Collaborate with clients, utilities, contractors, and key stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
n
- Contribute to proposals, business development activities, and technical capability initiatives across the business.
n
- Support the development of innovative and technically robust solutions for major transmission infrastructure projects.
n

About You
n
You are a highly capable electrical engineer with extensive experience in transmission and substation design, backed by strong technical expertise and a passion for sharing knowledge with others.
n
You'll bring:
n
n
- A degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
n
- Significant experience delivering HV/EHV substation projects within the power, utilities, or energy sector.
n
- Demonstrated expertise working on transmission infrastructure projects in the 330kV to 500kV range.
n
- Hands-on experience undertaking technical studies and engineering calculations, rather than solely reviewing third-party designs.
n
- Strong knowledge of: n n
- Conductor and busbar sizing
n
- Short-circuit force calculations
n
- Lightning protection design
n
- Lighting design studies
n
- Substation equipment layouts
n
- High-voltage equipment specifications
n
- HV cable sizing and associated calculations
n
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
- A collaborative approach and desire to mentor and develop emerging engineers.
n
