nThe Retail Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the entire retail operations of the bakery to ensure efficient, profitable, and compliant store performance. This role includes managing staff, supervising daily activities, upholding customer service standards, controlling stock and inventory, implementing sales strategies, and ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace regulations.n
nThe Retail Manager will actively contribute to business growth, improve operational performance, and maintain a high-quality retail experience for all customers.n

nSalary: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuationn

nKey Duties and Responsibilities:n

nRetail Operations and Store Managementn
n•Manage the day-to-day retail operations of the bakery to ensure smooth and efficient store performance.n
n•Coordinate opening and closing procedures, daily operational activities, and workflow within the retail environment.n
n•Ensure bakery products are attractively displayed, appropriately labelled, and maintained to a high presentation standard.n
n•Monitor product availability and coordinate timely replenishment of stock to meet customer demand.n
n•Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the retail premises.n
nInventory and Stock Coordinationn
n•Monitor stock movement, product turnover, and inventory levels across bakery and retail items.n
n•Coordinate ordering of retail supplies, packaging materials, and bakery stock in consultation with management and suppliers.n




n•Conduct regular stocktakes and maintain accurate inventory records.n
n•Minimise wastage and stock loss through effective stock handling and monitoring procedures.n
n
nCustomer Service and Salesn
n•Ensure a high standard of customer service is consistently delivered to all customers.n
n•Assist customers with product enquiries, recommendations, and general service requirements.n
n•Handle customer concerns, complaints, and feedback professionally and efficiently.n
n•Support initiatives aimed at improving customer engagement, repeat business, and overall sales performance.n
n
nStaff Supervision and Coordinationn
n•Supervise retail employees and bakery assistants during daily operations.n
n•Allocate work duties and monitor staff performance to ensure operational efficiency.n
n•Assist in onboarding and training new employees regarding workplace procedures, customer service n
nstandards, and operational expectations.n
n•Prepare and manage staff rosters based on operational requirements and business demands.n
n•Foster a positive and productive workplace environment.n
n
nFinancial and Administrative Dutiesn
n•Oversee point-of-sale operations, cash handling procedures, and daily transaction reconciliations.n




n•Maintain operational records relating to sales, stock movement, and daily retail activities.n
n•Assist management in monitoring operational costs and improving retail efficiency.n
n•Prepare basic operational reports and communicate business requirements to management as required.n
n
nCompliance and Workplace Safetyn
n•Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.n
n•Monitor adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation requirements within the bakery retail environment.n
n•Ensure employees follow safe work practices and company operational standards.n
n•Assist management in maintaining compliance with relevant business and industry regulations.n

nSkills, Qualifications and Experiencen
n
nEssential:n
n•A relevant qualification (e.g., Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Retail Management, Business, or equivalent) OR at least two years of relevant retail management experience.n
n•Previous experience in a bakery, hospitality, food retail, or quick-paced customer service workplace.n
n•Strong leadership and team management capabilities.n
n•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.n
n•Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities.n
n•Experience in inventory management, staff supervision, and daily retail operations.n
n•Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.n
n
nDesirable (but not essential):n
n•Experience with POS systems and retail reporting software.n
n•Knowledge of artisan bakery products or food production.
