About the role

Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join their Surgical Ward. We offer excellent flexibility, with opportunities ranging from Permanent Part-Time (0.6 FTE) to Full-time hours through to casual employment. Choose the arrangement that best suits your lifestyle!

Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton's Surgical Ward is a 25-bed unit providing care across a diverse range of surgical specialties, including orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, and plastics. The ward predominantly supports elective surgery patients, offering a well-structured and predictable environment with straightforward admissions and patient pathways. This provides an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals to develop their surgical nursing skills across multiple specialties while delivering high-quality patient-centred care in a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing
n
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, our Registered Nurses make up a vital and respected part of the nursing team at Mater. Key duties and responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Delivering and evaluating evidence‑based nursing care within your scope of practice
n
- Advocating for patients through education, informed consent, and shared decision‑making
n
- Act as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to procedures,
n
- Contribute to the maintenance of an environment which promotes safety, security and personal integrity of individual patients and groups,
n
- Maintain and adhere to Infection Control policies and practices,
n
- Complies with organisational policies, procedures,
work instructions and guidelines,
n
n
About you
n
To be successful in this role you will possess:
n
n
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
n
- Minimum of 1 post grad experience working within an acute setting
n
- Visa sponsorship may be considered for exceptional international applicants with demonstrated extensive experience in critical care on a medical ward.
n
- Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights and weekends
n
- High level skills in problem-solving, communication, coordination and time management
n
- The ability to contribute effectively and efficiently within a busy, multidisciplinary team environment
n
- Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate patient care and competency in clinical problem solving
n
- Available to work across all shifts
n
- Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communications and the ability to maintain accurate clinical and assessment data
n
