About the role
n
Mater Private Hospital Townsville has an exciting opportunity for a Floor Coordinator in our Perioperative Services unit.
n
Within this full-time permanent role, the successful candidate will work as part of the senior staff team to meet the departmental objectives and develop the work of the theatre service.
n

Salary range: $54.21 - $58.08 per hour (Registered Nurse Level 2) plus superannuation and salary packaging
n $107,501 - $115,161 per annum plus superannuation and salary packaging
n
What you’ll be doing
n
As the Floor Coordinator you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective service is provided to patients and Visiting Medical Officers within Perioperative Services on a day-to-day basis. You will provide clinical expertise, direct support and coaching to staff within the department, with a transparent focus on the patient experience and quality of services.

- Ensuring appropriate staff allocations and skill mix to reflect the changing workload and to meet patient needs.
n
- Coordinate all clinical activity to maximize efficiency and ensure staff meal breaks and reliefs are arranged in a timely manner.
n
- To act as a clinical expert within the area of work demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise.
n
- To liaise and co-operate with the wards, other departments, and personnel in the hospital.
n
- Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the theatre department in the daily running and organisation of theatre activity and provide support in all clinical areas as necessary.
n
- To maintain and raise the clinical standard of care through the process of audit, and as a result implement changes in best practice.
n
- Identify and communicate quality improvement ideas to senior staff to enhance patient care.

About you
n
To be successful in this role you will meet the following in the following:
n
n
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency with a current licence to practice as a Registered Nurse.
n
- Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in a clinical area or specialty applicable to the unit.
n
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Perioperative Nursing.
n
- Demonstrated advanced ability to communicate complex and challenging information constructively.
n
