Job Description

The Senior Developer takes a lead role in requirement analysis, development, maintenance and enhancement of applications in accordance with enterprise architecture principles and the IT Strategy to support AEMO energy market operator functions:

n

Engage with business users when designing systems, managing their expectations, and understanding;

n

Analyse, design and develop software programming solutions for major projects and periodic releases;

n

Organise and participate in requirements and design meetings to contribute to improved project design that includes peer review and team discussions;

n

Promote, contribute towards and action appropriate and supportable processes with sufficient audit trail for:

n

Reliable software operation and service delivery;

n

System design and development;

n

Defect management;

n

Continuous improvement of development methods, software, tools and processes;

n

Release and test management processes; and

n

Understanding of business logic.

n

Ensure applications and processes operate and meet agreed service and security levels by positive design and implementation;

n

Follow AEMO policies in the area of security, enterprise architecture principles and development process standards;

n

Document and direct staff (which may include other third -parties) to deliver on time and on budget, including estimation and tracking;

n





Maintain strong working AEMO business knowledge applicable to application support and development tasks;

n

Provide effective reporting to ensure AEMO leadership is informed and aware of relevant key issues and considerations that affect the service delivery, reputation and performance;

n

Participate in and contribute to the identification, reporting, assessment and management of risk.

Job Qualification; Software development in mission critical IT projects, especially high availability systems;

n

Demonstrated experience with:

n

Microsoft technologies (e.g. C# / .Net/ ASP.Net);

n

Web technologies (e.g. SOAP & RESTful web services, Windows Services, JavaScript, XML/XSD/XSL /HTML5 / CSS, Ajax, jQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap); and

n

Test tools (e.g.: SOAP UI, JIRA, Selenium);

n

Strong technical skills in areas such as logic, user interfaces, data modelling and work flow and translating it into clear & concise technical specifications and design;

n

Experience in using build and source control tools, continuous build and deployment using automation techniques, use of unit test automation and test harnesses;

n

Ability to effectively collaborate with other team members, proactively share knowledge, information, and solutions to problems;

n

Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of organisation, coordination and communication with attention to detail and accuracy;

n

Experience in common code libraries.
