van der Meer Consulting is a highly regarded civil and structural engineering consultancy delivering complex projects throughout Australia with offices in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

We are seeking a Senior Façade Engineer to join our Sydney team, which is conveniently located near St Leonards train station or Crows Nest Metro station.

About the Role

As an experienced Senior Facade Engineer, you will take ownership of the entire project, from design through to the construction phase, and will be responsible for liaising with stakeholders across different departments whilst liaising with clients for project delivery.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

- Facade engineering design and modelling (thermal performance, weather performance, material selection etc.)
- Condensation modelling
- Prepare façade specifications
- Prepare façade engineering reports
- Waterproofing detailing and inspections
- Structural analysis of facade elements (balustrades, glass, aluminium etc.)
- Knowledge of building construction
- Understanding of building defects
- Ability to problem solve when issues arise
- Develop client and contractor relationships

Skills and Personal Attributes:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Approximately 10 years facade engineering experience,



preferably gained within Tier 1 and 2 consultancy environments
- Knowledgeable in all types of façade types, most glazing suppliers of systems available on local market, metal cladding, aluminium rainscreen systems, CFC façade, precast concrete façade panels and balustrades, louvres and shade systems, brick façade, curtain wall systems
- Curtain Wall, Hebel Cladding, Masonry and Water proofing project experience
- Must have experience in FP1.4 and Weatherproofing reports
- Understanding of Standards and Legislation within the Building sector
- Capable of facing stakeholders, clients, architects, contractors’ representatives (glazing, precast, louvres etc.) and guiding them through design requirements for the onset of the projects
- High level report writing skills
- Robust verbal and written communicationskills
- Excellent interpersonal skill
- Strong attention to detail
- Must demonstrate initiative and be a team player
