Details: ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking applications from highly motivated, experienced and suitably qualified individuals, to fill the role of Area Supervisor, Construction Security (CO2), within Custodial Operations.

Working closely with Custodial Operations Senior Management team and other stakeholders, the Area Supervisor, Construction Security is an enabling role that ensures capital works proceed in a way that ensures the objectives of the organisation are met, while effectively managing all matters relating to security of construction works.

The successful applicant will be responsible for enforcing policies and procedures to control site access and security for approved capital works and related investigatory, planning and design activities including but not limited to:

- Inducting capital works contractors into site specific safety, security and access systems;
- Supervise capital works contractor tool, vehicle, plant, equipment, material and waste management systems;
- Ensure security compliance with permits and approvals relating to capital works, including but not limited to hot works and electronic item exemptions;
- Contribute to risk assessments;
- Coordinate contractor escort and access with all relevant stakeholders to maintain security, expedite work, minimise disruption and minimise risk

Where appropriate, the role will supervise, coach, train, instruct and work with detainees on construction projects, including individuals with a history of serious offending, to develop their work skills in order to enhance post-release employment opportunities. This role requires robust stakeholder engagement skills, attention to detail,



and the ability to balance security requirements with operational and project outcomes.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

- Relevant custodial experience and a Certificate III in Correctional Practice is essential.
- Current unrestricted Driver’s license is essential.
- Relevant qualifications in at least one of the following areas is desirable:
- Risk management
- Frontline management
- Community safety
- Security management
- Hold the following qualification or be able to obtain before on-site work commencement:
- Construction induction (white card) with related sub-courses including asbestos and Silica awareness.
- Senior first aid
- This position requires pre-employment psychological and pre-employment medical testing and a National Police check.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 21 December 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. The roster that best fits the requirements if this specific position, will attract an 18.07% composite allowance. Details of the roster can be provided on request.
