About the role
Working closely with the business owners, workshop team and external accountant, you’ll take ownership of our day-to-day bookkeeping and help keep our accounts, payroll and inventory records accurate and up to date.

Key responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier payments and customer follow-up
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
- Enter and cross-check employee timesheets, following up missing information and discrepancies before payroll
- Prepare and process wages, including overtime, allowances and leave, and maintain accurate payroll records
- Prepare financial information and reports for the business owners and accountant
- Assist with BAS preparation and month-end processes
- Monitor cash flow and upcoming payment commitments
- Support inventory control by maintaining accurate stock records, reconciling stock movements and investigating discrepancies with the team
- Assist with tracking stock costs and job costing
- Help improve bookkeeping processes and support general accounts administration
About you
You’re organised,
reliable and comfortable taking ownership of your work. You enjoy working with others, ask questions when something doesn’t add up and follow things through.
You’ll bring
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping role
- Confidence using XERO accounting software and Microsoft 365 and SharePoint etc.
- Experience checking timesheets, preparing wages and managing payroll records
- A sound understanding of Australian bookkeeping processes
- Robust attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Clear communication skills when working with customers, suppliers and colleagues
- A practical approach to solving problems and improving processes
- Discretion when handling confidential business and employee information
Experience in heavy machinery, manufacturing, engineering or a similar industry would be highly regarded, particularly with inventory control, stock reconciliation and job costing.
A bookkeeping or accounting qualification would be advantageous.
