Foodbank Queensland

About Us

We are Queensland’s largest hunger relief charity. Our vision is a Queensland without hunger. We believe that access to healthy food is a basic human right. Each week, we support 135,000 Queenslanders in crisis and provide breakfast to 52,000 children each school week.

We work in collaboration with 350 Community Partners and 430 Schools. Alongside food relief, we rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, reducing landfill and protecting the environment. We’re also focused on long-term change, partnering with communities to build fairer, more resilient local food systems.

- Every $1 donated creates 2 meals
- We provide more than 150 meals every minute and over 10,000 meals every hour of operation
- Each year, we provide 12.7 million kilograms of food and groceries, which is the equivalent of 22 million meals and 1.1 million breakfasts

As Foodbank continues to grow its impact across the state, they are seeking an experienced and analytically minded Business Intelligence Analyst to join their Finance team and help strengthen the organisation’s data, reporting and insights capability.

The Opportunity

Foodbank Queensland is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Finance team and work closely with our CFO and senior leadership team. This is a specialist analytical role for someone who enjoys going beyond reporting- someone who can take complex financial, operational and programme data, find the story within it, and turn it into clear insight that helps leaders make better decisions.

You’ll play a key role in strengthening our financial visibility, improving reporting and automation, and helping us understand the sustainability and cost of the programmes and services we deliver.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll:

- Design, develop and continuously improve Power BI, Cognos or equivalent BI dashboards, scorecards and management reports
- Build financial models for budgets, forecasts, scenarios, cashflow assumptions and business cases
- Analyse programme and funding performance, including funding gaps, grant timing, cost commitments and sustainability risks
- Deliver cost-to-serve,

operational, site and resource utilisation analysis to identify cost drivers and opportunities for improvement
- Automate recurring reporting and reduce reliance on manual spreadsheets
- Develop and maintain reporting datasets, data models and transformation logic
- Provide transparent, evidence-based analysis for CFO, executive and Board reporting
- Identify data quality issues, challenge assumptions and help strengthen reporting governance and data integrity
- Translate complex financial and operational information into practical insights, options and recommendations for non-financial stakeholders

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical BI capability with commercial curiosity, financial acumen and a genuine interest in understanding what the numbers are telling us.

- You will bring 2–3 years’ experience in a similar Analyst role, with a track record of delivering high-quality reporting and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience developing Power BI or equivalent BI dashboards and management reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, forecasting, driver-based and scenario analysis.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, transformation, reporting automation and BI governance, with solid SQL and database concepts knowledge.
- Exceptional numerical and analytical capability, with the ability to interrogate data, test assumptions, identify trends and anomalies, and turn findings into meaningful insights.
- Ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear, practical insights for senior and non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present findings and constructively challenge assumptions or data quality issues.

- A practical, solutions-focused approach to improving reporting, processes and data quality.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant equivalent work experience is required, alongside exceptional numerical and analytical skills and a track record of delivering high-quality reporting and analysis.

Experience in a not-for-profit, grant-funded, logistics, warehousing, food relief, community services or multi-site environment will also be highly regarded.

Most importantly, you’re looking for more than a reporting role. You want to use your analytical skills to uncover insights, support better decisions and contribute to work that has a real and meaningful impact.

Why This Role Matters The work you do will directly contribute to better financial visibility, stronger decision-making and greater accountability across Foodbank Queensland.

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and influence how data is used to understand programme sustainability, resource allocation, cost and performance across an organisation delivering essential food relief to Queensland communities. This is a role where your analysis won’t simply sit in a report – it will help shape decisions.
