Work across SmartCare Diagnostics sites throughout Southeast Queensland
Are you studying Nursing or Paramedicine and looking for an opportunity to develop genuine hands-on clinical skills alongside your degree?
SmartCare Diagnostics is seeking Cardiac Technicians to join our growing diagnostic team across our Southeast Queensland locations.
This role would particularly suit Nursing or Paramedicine students who have already gained exposure to cardiac assessment or diagnostic testing through clinical placement or previous healthcare employment and want to continue building their practical experience in a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
You do not need to be an experienced Cardiac Physiologist to be considered, however previous cardiac experience is essential. This may have been gained through employment, clinical placement or another supervised healthcare setting.
Applicants must also be flexible and willing to work across multiple SmartCare Diagnostics sites throughout Southeast Queensland, depending on operational and patient demand.
About SmartCare Diagnostics
SmartCare Diagnostics provides patient-centred, high-quality cardiovascular and diagnostic services. Our clinics deliver timely assessments, interventions and monitoring to support the diagnosis, management and prevention of cardiac conditions.
Our Cardiac Technicians work closely with medical practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals and administrative staff to provide safe, accurate and efficient diagnostic care across our growing network.
What you'll be doing
This role includes
- Performing 12-lead ECGs
- Application and management of Holter monitors
- 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
- Supporting and performing ECG-based Exercise Stress Testing within credentialled scope and required medical supervision
- Supporting Event Monitoring
- Preparing patients and providing clear procedural instructions
- Recording accurate clinical observations and technical information
- Recognising and appropriately escalating abnormal or clinically significant findings
- Supporting efficient patient flow and clinic workflows
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
- Supporting cardiac equipment setup, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
- Providing a professional and patient-centred experience
About You We are looking for people who are genuinely interested in cardiovascular care and want to continue developing their clinical capability.
To be considered, you must have:
- Previous cardiac clinical experience, gained through either employment or clinical placement
- Exposure to ECG acquisition and cardiac assessment
- Confidence working directly with patients in a clinical environment
- Strong attention to detail and accurate clinical documentation skills
- A professional and patient-centered approach
- The ability to follow clinical protocols and recognize when clinical concerns require escalation
- Willingness to undertake further competency-based training
- Flexibility and willingness to work across SmartCare Diagnostics locations throughout Southeast Queensland
- Reliable transport and the ability to travel between sites as required
Knowledge or experience with ECGs, Holter Monitoring, Exercise Stress Testing, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring or cardiac device management will be highly regarded.
This role is an excellent opportunity for Nursing and Paramedicine students who have completed cardiac-related clinical placements and are looking for paid healthcare experience that complements their degree.
Rather than working in a purely administrative or non-clinical student role, you will have the opportunity to continue developing practical skills in:
- Cardiac assessment
- ECG acquisition
- Patient preparation
- Clinical communication
- Recognition and escalation of abnormal findings
- Diagnostic workflows
- Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
Previous cardiac placement experience remains a minimum requirement. Why join SmartCare?
Joining SmartCare Diagnostics gives you the opportunity to:
- Gain practical experience in a dedicated diagnostic environment
- Develop your cardiovascular assessment and diagnostic skills
- Work alongside experienced clinicians
- Build confidence interacting directly with patients
- Develop clinical skills alongside your Nursing or Paramedicine degree
- Undertake structured clinical training and competency development
- Gain exposure to multiple non-invasive cardiac investigations
- Work across multiple SmartCare locations throughout South East Queensland
- Experience different patient populations, clinical teams and clinic environments
- Be part of a growing multidisciplinary healthcare organisation
SmartCare also supports ongoing professional development, competency assessment and participation in internal education and clinical training.
