Mobile Plant Operator – Carrathool NSW

Kogan People Solutions, recruiters, are working to assist a well-established cotton gin operation business to hire their new qualified and experienced mobile plant operator based in Carrathool NSW. Our client has one of the most advanced ginning facilities, specifically designed to process high-moisture southern cotton efficiently while maintaining premium fibre quality.

About the role:

As our Mobile Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of specialised mobile plant and cotton-handling equipment within the gin operation. The role supports the receival, unloading, movement, staging and processing of cotton and associated materials

Salary – Negotiable in the range of $95k to $105k plus superannuation per annum.

Location – Carrathool NSW.

Tenure – Full-time and Ongoing.

Key responsibilities include:

·Operate mobile plant and machinery in accordance with safety requirements and specifications

·Conduct pre-operational inspections, servicing, calibration, and basic maintenance of mobile plant and machinery.

·Receive, position and feed seed-cotton modules from transport vehicles into the gin's intake systems using module movers (moon-buggies) and front-end loaders, maintaining continuous ginning flow and minimising downtime during peak season.

·Calibrate and monitor plant performance during operation, adjusting ground speed, working depth, attachment angles and load capacities to suit changing yard and load conditions.

·Move and stage bulk cotton-processing materials (bales, seed and fibrous waste) for transport in accordance with dispatch schedules.

·Operate supporting machinery including tractors, front end loaders spray units, forklifts, module handlers, and other support equipment where required.

·Identify and report mechanical faults, breakdowns, and maintenance requirements.

·Maintain accurate operational records including machinery logs, fuel usage, maintenance reports, and processing data.

·Follow all workplace health and safety procedures,



environmental regulations, and biosecurity requirements.

·Work collaboratively with managers, mechanics, contractors, and other crews to achieve targets.

- Perform manual labour tasks associated with machinery operation and cotton processing activities as required.

Skills, Attributes and Qualifications:

·A relevant qualification (minimum Cert II or Cert III) in a relevant field or agreed substitute.

·At least 1 or more years of relevant experience operating heavy plant and machinery or heavy farm equipment.

·Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and rural farming environments.

·Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.

·Ability to operate GPS-guided and modern precision systems.

·Sound understanding of machinery safety and preventative maintenance practices.

·Good communication and teamwork skills.

·Physically fit and able to work in hot, dusty conditions.

·Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
