Position: Technical Sales Representative
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation per annum
Location: Newcastle West NSW 2302
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Representative to join their team in Newcastle West, New South Wales.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Field Trial Planning and Execution
- Participate in the planning and execution of the company trial at client mine sites: a controlled comparative field trial, typically conducted over one to two weeks using treated and untreated (control) equipment.
- Support the development of the application protocol for each specific operation, including the number and sequence of saturation applications, daily application regime, surface preparation requirements, selection of treated and control units, and sample size.
- Assess, together with the company technical team, factors such as material type, moisture content, ambient temperature, surface condition and operating conditions that may affect product performance.
- Monitor field trials and recommends adjustments to the application protocol where changes in operating conditions or other factors may affect the validity of the comparison between treated and control equipment.
- Consult with company technical team and Directors before implementing material changes to the trial protocol.
- Operate the application equipment and personally applies the product at client mine sites.
- Support the establishment of the operational baseline and undertakes the collection of comparative performance data, including carryback volume per load, unloading performance, loading efficiency, bucket passes per truck, cycle and travel times, and cleaning frequency and duration.
- Analyse collected data and contributes to the identification of key results, operational variations and potential benefits.
- Prepare, under guidance and review from the responsible team members, technical sections of the trial conclusion report and business case, including measured performance against baseline, performance analysis, identified risks and issues, and recommendations.
Technical Analysis and Support
- Review and interprets analytical reports prepared by independent laboratories in relation to the product.
- Support the assessment of product compliance against technical, environmental and safety requirements established by clients and applicable regulations.
- Review information relating to toxicity, PFAS content, presence of potentially harmful compounds, hazardous substance classification, and the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the product.
- Prepare technical information and supporting documentation in response to requests from client engineering, environmental, procurement and HSE functions.
- Support the technical product approval process at client operations by providing documentation and technical clarification within his area of knowledge.
- Record and provides structured technical feedback to the product team in Brazil regarding product performance under Australian field conditions.
- Contribute information regarding material types, ambient temperature, humidity, surface condition,
equipment and observed performance to support the continuous improvement of products and application protocols.
Site Compliance, Access and Onboarding
- Participate in the development and implementation of company compliance procedures for work undertaken at mining operations.
- Complete the site inductions, training and onboarding processes required by clients before undertaking field activities.
- Follow and supports compliance with client safety, environmental and operational requirements while undertaking activities on site.
- Support the preparation of documentation required for client onboarding and prequalification processes, including information relating to product safety, environmental impact and safe work methods.
- Participate in the preparation of work procedures and safety documentation associated with product application activities.
- Provide guidance, in accordance with established procedures, to client operational personnel regarding product application, dosage, surface preparation and associated safety requirements.
Client Development and Sales Support
- Support the identification and qualification of prospective clients within the Australian mining market, including major mining companies, mine operations, mining service providers and smaller operators.
- Research and identifies relevant professionals within target organisations, including personnel working in operations, reliability, maintenance, continuous improvement, engineering and HSE functions.
- Support initial engagement with prospective clients and the development of current business opportunities.
- Represent the company, together with other members of the team, at Australian mining conferences, industry events and trade exhibitions.
- Participate in technical discovery discussions with prospective clients, collecting information regarding fleet composition, equipment types, material characteristics, haulage cycles, shift patterns, current carryback severity, cleaning practices, water consumption and compliance requirements.
- Organise and analyses information collected from prospective clients to support assessment of the applicability of company solutions.
- Support the quantification of potential operational perks, including payload recovery, reduction in loading passes, potential additional haul cycles per shift, reduced cleaning requirements and avoided downtime.
- Contribute to the preparation of cost-benefit analyses and business cases for review by the responsible team members.
- Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals, quotations and documentation relating to trials, consumable supply, equipment and longer-term contracts.
- Participate in commercial discussions with clients, providing technical and operational information where required.
- Commercial terms,
pricing and contractual decisions remain subject to the responsibility and approval of company Directors.
Operations Coordination Support
- Support the planning of operational activities and site deliveries.
- Assists with the scheduling of trials, technical visits and service activities, as well as the mobilisation of team members, representatives and delivery partners.
- Assist with monitoring the availability and supply of consumables and equipment required for trials and service delivery.
- Support the organisation of installation and commissioning activities for application equipment at client sites.
- Maintain operational contact with clients following trials and deliveries to collect information regarding product performance and operating conditions.
- Support the review and recalibration of application protocols where changes occur in operating conditions, materials or equipment.
- Record issues identified during field activities and provides the relevant information to the technical team and Directors for review.
Marketing, CRM and Reporting
- Contribute to the development of technical and marketing content, including case studies, product collateral and social media content.
- Provide technical information, field data and trial results to support the preparation of technical and commercial materials.
- Maintain information relating to assigned opportunities in CRM system.
- Record client interactions, activities undertaken, agreed next steps and other relevant opportunity information.
- Assist with maintaining accurate sales pipeline information.
- Prepare information and updates regarding his sales support activities, opportunities and trial progress for reporting to the Directors.
- Research competitor activities, alternative solutions and market conditions relevant to the Australian release-agent and material carryback segment.
- Shares findings with the Directors and other relevant members of the team.
Participation in Meetings and Decision-Making Processes
- Participate in internal meetings relating to clients, trials, operations, partners and suppliers.
- Present technical and operational information obtained through site visits, field trials and client interactions.
- Provide technical observations and recommendations within his area of knowledge and experience.
- Participate in the assessment of alternatives and potential next steps relating to opportunities in which he is involved.
- Final decisions regarding pricing, commercial terms, contracts, material technical specifications, commitments to clients and contract execution remain with Directors and other appropriately authorised personnel.
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience
- Previous sales or customer-facing experience is desirable but not essential.
- Experience within the mining, resources, manufacturing, industrial, or process industries will be advantageous..
- Ability to build relationships with customers and understand their technical requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
- A current Australian driver's licence.
