Rooms Division Manager | Kangaroo Island, SA

About the Role

This is more than a role, it’s a launchpad. As Rooms Division Manager at Southern Ocean Lodge, you’ll work alongside our General Manager in leading one of Australia’s most celebrated luxury wilderness lodges. You’ll take full ownership of our rooms division, housekeeping, front office and spa positioning yourself to take on expanded leadership roles across our growing portfolio of properties.

This is hands-on leadership of a critical operational pillar. You will lead from the floor, building capable teams, guiding service delivery, and stepping in wherever needed to keep our guests’ experience flawless. You’ll work closely with the Assistant Lodge Manager, F&B; & Experiences as a true peer, ensuring seamless coordination across all guest touchpoints. You’ll also take shared responsibility for the property in the General Manager’s absence.

This is a residential role based on Kangaroo Island, with accommodation and meals provided.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading housekeeping, front office, spa and experiences teams with genuine investment in their capability and growth
- Setting and maintaining service standards, presentation and attention to detail across all rooms division operations
- Creating a team culture where people want to work, recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing your team members with purpose
- Curating and overseeing the guest experiences program, from first check-in through departure
- Acting as Manager on Duty, taking full responsibility for the lodge and all operational decisions as required
- Managing rosters, labour costs and departmental budgets across rooms division and experiences
- Overseeing workplace health and safety, compliance and emergency procedures within your division
- Building systems and processes that allow your team to deliver excellence at scale




- Supporting the General Manager on wider lodge projects and providing accurate operational reporting
- Working collaboratively with the Assistant Lodge Manager F&B; to deliver seamless, integrated guest experiences

About You

You are a passionate and experienced hospitality leader with proven capability in rooms division and guest experience management. You thrive being visible, hands-on and embedded with your team.

You will ideally have:

- Significant experience in housekeeping, front office, guest experiences or rooms division leadership in 5-star or luxury accommodation
- A background in remote or lodge environments strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success building, developing and retaining strong hospitality teams
- Genuine interest in developing people and creating environments where they can grow
- Confidence to step into broader operational leadership and work across multiple departments
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
- A current driver’s licence
- Willingness to live and work on Kangaroo Island in a residential setting
- Ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
- Current Australian working rights
