Our client SAGE Community Services is seeking an experienced and collaborative Team Leader to lead a team of caseworkers in Families Together and support high-quality, client-centred service delivery across Western Sydney.

About the Opportunity…
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced community services leader to join SAGE Community Services in a pivotal leadership role. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Team Leader will provide leadership to a team of up to 6 practitioners, including 5 primary child protection caseworkers and 1 supportive or clinical role.

The role oversees service delivery, leadership, quality improvement, compliance, intake, case work, safety and risk management in a client facing child protection setting. You’ll also contribute to organisational growth, sustainability, and networking with internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll need to succeed…
This role will suit an experienced and collaborative community services leader with strong operational, people management and problem-solving skills, ideally within complex DCJ-funded family support or domestic and family violence programs. The successful candidate will bring a genuine commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe and inclusive practice, along with a passion for supporting children, families and communities across Western Sydney.

Selection Criteria…

- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Social Sciences or a related human services field
- Minimum four years’ experience in a leadership or senior casework role, with a demonstrated track record of supervising and leading staff, delivering services to families experiencing vulnerability, and meeting contract requirements
- Solid experience working with children and families experiencing complex needs – including trauma, domestic and family violence, child protection issues, mental health concerns, parental drug and alcohol misuse and social disadvantage
- Demonstrated ability to lead trauma-informed, child-centred and culturally responsive practice within child protection and domestic violence service contexts
- Experience overseeing complex risk, child safety concerns, mandatory reporting and safety planning
- A genuine understanding of child protection principles, risk assessment and safety planning, and what it means to keep children at the centre of all decisions




- Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally safe and responsive way, including with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA+ families
- Sound knowledge of child protection legislation, mandatory reporting obligations and information-sharing requirements
- High-level skill in providing professional supervision and supporting staff through performance challenges and professional growth
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build trust with families, colleagues and external partners
- Ability to lead effectively through change, problem-solve under pressure and bring people along with you
- Competence in maintaining accurate records using online case management systems and reporting schedules
- A genuine commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality and ongoing professional development.
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Criminal record history check (this is a child-related position)
- Current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
