As Assistant Centre Director (2IC) & Educational Leader, you will work closely with and support the Centre Director at Friendship Square Early Learning Centre, a community-run, not-for-profit, Reggio Emilia-inspired centre in Cheltenham. You will help lead the day-to-day operations of the Centre while providing educational leadership, mentoring and support to the team of dedicated educators.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with and support the Centre Director
- Provide visible, hands‑on leadership and support to educators
- Coach and mentor educators to strengthen educational practice
- Lead high‑quality curriculum, programming and reflective practice
- Support the Centre's Quality Improvement Plan and continuous improvement
- Assist with staffing, rostering, compliance and day‑to‑day Centre operations
- Build positive relationships with children, families and the team
- Step into the leadership of the Centre when the Director is unavailable
About you
- An ACECQA-approved Diploma-level early childhood qualification or higher
- Experience working in an early childhood education and care service
- A passion for early childhood education and high-quality educational practice
- The confidence and experience to lead, mentor and support other educators
- Robust knowledge of the National Quality Framework,
National Quality Standard and approved learning frameworks
- Excellent communication, organisation and relationship‑building skills
- A collaborative mindset and positive attitude
- Current Working with Children Check or VIT registration
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
- Current child protection and child safety training
- Flexible full-time or part‑time working arrangements
- Small class sizes and a close‑knit team

- A fortnightly RDO
- Two weeks' closure over the Christmas holidays
