This is not your typical fitter role.

n

As a Skitube Fitter at Perisher, you'll work as part of a close-knit, highly skilled maintenance team responsible for keeping one of Australia's most unique alpine transport systems operating safely and reliably.

n

The Skitube Alpine Railway is a Swiss-designed rack and cog railway connecting Bullocks Flat with Perisher Valley and Blue Cow Mountain. With extensive underground sections reaching up to 550 metres below ground, the Skitube is a complex operating environment that offers specialist mechanical work you won't find in many other places.

This year-round role offers stability, variety and technical challenge, with the chance to develop a comprehensive understanding of rolling stock, track and associated mechanical equipment.

What You'll Be Doing

n

n
- Inspecting, maintaining and repairing rolling stock, rail infrastructure, plant and equipment
n
- Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical faults
n
- Carrying out scheduled and preventative maintenance
n
- Welding, fitting, fabrication and modifications
n
- Completing maintenance records and work orders
n
- Supporting asset reliability and minimising downtime
n
- Working a variable roster, including night shifts during winter
n
- Following safety, environmental and operational procedures
n

What You'll Bring

n

n
- Trade Certificate – Mechanical Fitter (essential)
n
- Experience as a qualified Mechanical Fitter
n




- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
n
- Welding experience
n
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety
n
- Ability to undertake physical work, including heavy lifting
n
- Ability to work collaboratively in a close-knit team
n
- Reliable, punctual and enthusiastic approach
n
- Desirable: Railway, rolling stock or rail maintenance experience, along with experience in fabrication, welding or complex mechanical environments.
