Job Description
This residential facility is a spacious facility on the East Coast of Tasmania. They are currently seeking a Registered Nurse
n
n
FUNCTION:
n
n
n
- To ensure the direct care needs of clients are met, through the implementation, oversight and continuous evaluation of care plans and individualised nursing needs of clients.
n
- Supervision and direction of other enrolled and registered nurses, personal care attendants and support workers
n
- To work within the philosophy of the organisation to achieve the highest possible standard of care delivery to residents
n
- Contribute to the maintenance of residential care standards required to achieve accreditation
n
n
n
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
n
n
n
- Maintain and ensure full compliance with all accreditation outcomes.
n
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for consumers according to accepted nursing
n
- practice and standards
n
- Work in consultation with other health professionals and members of health teams, and co-
n
- ordinate the care of consumers
n
- Provide interventions, treatments and therapies such as medications, and monitor responses to
n
- treatment
n
- Review, update and clarify each client’s care plan
n
- Promote health and assists in preventing ill health, by participating in training and other relevant
n
- activities
n
- Answer questions and provides information to clients and families about treatment and care,
n
- within your scope of practice
n
n
n
HEALTH AND PERSONAL CARE
n
n
n
- Delivery of high-quality care to clients
n
- Assistance in overseeing specialised nursing needs to clients
n
- Accurate documentation of resident needs in assessments, care plans and progress notes
n
- Following of care plans in the delivery of care to all clients
n
- Oversee, update, reassess and ensure the accurate implementation of all care related
n
- documentation – e.g. care plans, assessments, wound charts, palliative care plans etc
n
- Ensuring clients choice is maintained in care delivery by providing appropriate assistance with
n
- personal care in accordance with care plans
n
- Ensuring clients independence is maintained in care delivery
n
- Ensuring clients are prepared for all appointments, outings and activities
n
- Reporting of care need changes to the Clinical Care Coordinator
n
- Prompt assistance is given to residents when it is requested
n
- Assistance provided to doctors when required
n
- Identify trends in care needs e.g. infections and reporting of same including client evaluations
n
- Acting at all times to protect the rights of residents, including confidentiality, privacy, individual
n
- choice and decision making
n
n
n
MEDICATION DELIVERY:
n
n
n
- Completion of medication competency requirements
n
- Safe delivery of medication to residents
n
- Following of all policies and procedures relating to medication
n
- Ability to identify medication incidents and accurately report same
n
n
n
MAINTENANCE OF DOCUMENTATION SYSTEM:
n
n
- Assist with the maintenance of a document control system throughout the facility that demonstrates continuous improvement and meets the requirement of accreditation
n
- Maintain accurate documentation notes, assessments and care plans
n
- Demonstrate accuracy and efficiency in the submission of documentation to relevant government
n
- departments within appropriate timeframes, where required
n
n
n

- Communicate effectively with care recipients, showing patience, tolerance and understanding
n
- Demonstrate a high degree of effective teamwork
n
- Respect and maintain privacy and a high degree of confidentiality in relation to all dealings with staff, clients and others and in relation to the organisation

- Organise time and workload to allow for maximum work productivity in the time allocated
n
- Use safely and economically all equipment and supplies necessary to complete duties

- Work unsupervised as required

- Ensure personal work practices comply with the organisational work, health and safety policies and procedures

- Maintain a safe environment for all workers and clients within the organisation by reporting and documenting incidents or hazards in accordance with the policies of the organisation
n
- Abide by fire safety procedures and attend fire drills annually
n
- Attend manual handling education sessions annually
n
n

- Maintain an up to date working knowledge of equipment necessary to complete duties

- Attend in-service education and staff meeting as appropriate

- Be willing to undergo a Federal Police Check every 3 years as per the Accountability Amendment Principles 2006.

- Participate in an annual evaluation of your performance with CEO

- Identify problems with supervisor and initiate early action to resolve these

Requirements n
n
Essential:
n
n
n
- Qualifications as a Registered Nurse – Must Retain Current Registration
n
- Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
n
- Demonstrated high level of analytical, written and verbal skills
n
- Understanding of the accreditation standards
n
- Valid National Police Check (Within 3 Years)
n
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccinations
n
